I write this greeting during the hot days of summer approximately 100 days away from our first game of the 2017-18 season. As odd as it seems to be thinking about our favorite winter sport in the dead of summer, it lifts my spirits to look ahead to another exciting year of Union Hockey. There’s a rhythm to the years and as much as we look forward to the warmth of the summer and its long lazy days, something within all of us know it’s just a well-deserved break before we’re at it again – cheering for our student athletes and our school – watching them play their exciting brand of college hockey. Is there any program better than ours? All bias aside – not now - not ever!

The season ahead is both unpredictable and promising. We know this from the seasons we’ve enjoyed in previous years – every game in our league has meaning – every night is a battle – every opponent brings us huge challenges. The Garnet Blades also has meaning – every year we also battle to increase our contribution to the program – we too have big challenges to accomplish our goals – sometimes it’s difficult but we never back down. Why? Because “we believe” and we have over 300 members who believe with us. We are a team off the ice that supports our team on the ice and nothing makes me prouder than to be part of that team. I know many of you have expressed the same joy to be involved.
