Baseball: Postseason awards announced KINGSVILLE, Texas – More than 40 baseball standouts were recognized Wednesday as the Lone Star Conference annual baseball postseason awards were announced prior to this week’s championship. The honorees included seven first-team selections for LSC Champion Texas A&M-Kingsville, who won its fifth title with a 24-11 league record. TAMUK had 11 total picks with three second-teamers and one honorable mention selection. The Javelinas Derrick Walls was tabbed Player of the Year, while Jason Gonzales claimed Coach of the Year acclaim. West Texas A&M’s Dylan James took home Pitcher of the Year honors, while Eastern New Mexico’s Kiegan Basso was named Freshman of the Year. WT also had 11 all-conference performers with seven first-teamers and four second-team selections. Angelo State and Tarleton State both had six selections. The Rams had three picks on the top team and three on the second team. The Texans were represented by three on the first team, two second-teamers and one honorable mention pick. Cameron and Eastern New Mexico added four players each. Both the Aggies and Greyhounds had one first-team pick. A total of 42 student-athletes were acknowledged by the all-conference program, including at least one player from each of the six baseball teams in the LSC.
