THETIS BAY CAISSON STORAGE • PRECISE POINT POSITIONING WAS PERFORMED FOR HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL CONTROL USING CAISSONS. • ORIGINAL LEASE AREA (IN RED BELOW) EXPANDED TO ACCOUNT FOR REFLOATING AND REPOSITIONING OF CAISSONS.

2013 SURVEY TASK OVERVIEW • ON THE WEST SIDE OF TUKTOYAKTUK USE CAISSONS TO CREATE A BARRIER TO SLOW STORM CAUSED EROSION:  IDENTIFY ANY POSSIBLE CONSTRAINTS AND HAZARDS FROM MAN-MADE, NATURAL AND GEOLOGICAL FEATURES WHICH MAY AFFECT THE CAISSON PLACEMENT OVER THE CHOSEN SET DOWN AREA.  IDENTIFY A TOW ROUTE WEST OF THE TUKTOYAKTUK APPROACHES WITH A REDUCED WATER DEPTH OF GREATER THAN 4.2 METRES.

• AT THETIS BAY AS FOLLOWS:  CARRY OUT A PRE-SALVAGE SURVEY TO MAP THE SEA BED AND DEBRIS AT THE LEASE SITE.  POSITION AND CARRY OUT PICTORIAL INSPECTION OF CAISSONS. rpsgroup.com/canada

MODIFICATONS TO SCOPE OF WORK • SHORE LINE TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEY AND ASSOCIATED PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK CARRIED OUT ON 27 AND 28 AUGUST WHILST WAITING FOR ARRIVAL OF SUPPORT TUG. SURVEYED CONCRETE FORMS USED TO LIMIT SHORE EROSION, FROM FLAG POLE POINT TO SOUTH WEST. • GAS-FREE BARGE AND ZOOM BOOM WAS ADDED TO THE EQUIPMENT TAKEN TO THETIS BAY TO ALLOW THE SAFEST POSSIBLE ACCESS TO THE TOP OF THE CAISSONS FOR THE LAND SURVEY OPERATIONS TO POSITION THE CAISSONS. rpsgroup.com/canada

SURVEY TIMING ANALYSIS • • • • •

PROJECT TOTAL = 20 DAYS OPERATIONAL TIME ALMOST EQUALED MOB/DEMOB TIME. WEATHER DOWNTIME = 17 HOURS AT TUKTOYAKTUK. SURVEY CREW WORKED A 12 HOUR DAY. NO DISPUTED TIME!

THETIS BAY CAISSON STORAGE – RESULTS • SOME SILTATION BUILD UP ON WEST AND NORTH SIDES, WITH DEEPER WATER ON EAST AND SOUTH SIDES. • WATER DEPTH 4.5 TO 11.0 METRES RELATIVE TO CHART DATUM. • 8 TARGEST FOUND IN SURVEY AREA WHICH APPEAR TO BE METAL OR OTHER DEBRIS. rpsgroup.com/canada

CONCLUSIONS • THE OVERALL REQUIREMENTS OF THESE SURVEYS WERE ACHIEVED. • AT TUKTOYAKTUK, BASED ON THE MULTIBEAM ECHO SOUNDER AND SUB BOTTOM PROFILER DATA THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS WERE MADE:  THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THE CAISSONS COULD HAVE BEEN USED IN SOME MANNER AS AN OFFSHORE BARRIER HOWEVER;  A SHALLOW GRAVEL SPIT WAS EVIDENT RUNNING NORTH WEST FROM FLAGPOLE POINT ACROSS AREA A WHICH WOULD HAVE HAD TO BEEN DREDGED TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE SET DOWN SITE.  THROUGH THE TUKTOYAKTUK APPROACHES THERE WAS NO SUITABLE TOW ROUTE. • AT THETIS BAY THE PICTORIAL RECONNAISSANCE AND PRESALVAGE SURVEY WILL PROVE ESSENTIAL FOR THE FUTURE REMOVAL AND SALVAGE OPERATIONS. rpsgroup.com/canada
