November 2017 Dear Families, Halloween Spirit Day at VCE was a huge success! So many students and staff members wore orange and black. At Morning Program we danced the Monster Mash and the students helped to turn Mrs. Gottlieb, Mrs. Richmond and Mrs. Walker into mummies! On Thursday, November 2nd VCE kicks off PARP (Pick a Reading Partner) with two special guests at Morning Program. The NY State PTA is also a proud sponsor of this wonderful event. PARP families spend 15 minutes a day sharing reading time. In addition to reading books, there are so many ways to share reading time. Think about sharing a newspaper or magazine article, reading a movie review or exploring books at the library. Reading also includes reading a recipe or directions for a game or project. Participating in PARP is a wonderful way to share the joy of reading with your children and to create life long memories. As we head into the month of November, the PTA’s annual fall courtyard clean up will take place on November 3rd. If you can lend a hand, please contact our PTA. Finally, our third annual VCE Lip Sync Battle is being planned and it promises to be a wonderful night. Tickets will go on sale later this month for the battle which will take place at Nyack High School on Friday, December 1st. This has been a sold-out event for the past two years so get your tickets early! Thank you for being part of our VCE family and for sharing your children with us each day.
