Principal’s Message Owl Nation, What a great time to be an Owl! We have a lot of changes coming next year here at Garden Plain High School. These changes create new opportunities for our students that include a partnership with WATC, an Internship program and 1 to 1 with Chromebooks . We are glad to announce our partnership with Wichita Area Technical College and offering tuition free education for certain technical areas that our students can take while in high school. These will be offered at either the main campus or on their Grove campus. This is only offered to our Junior and Senior students and we will be hosting a parent meeting February 18th in the high school cafeteria for anyone who has children interested to help answer any questions you may have. Additionally we have a new class offering of an Internship program at Garden Plain High School for the fall of 2016. We are in the early stages of what this will look like as well as curriculum however we know that this class will cover things such as personal finance, financial aid, workplace ethic/morals, career exploration among other areas. Finally we are excited to announce an online curriculum that students will have access to through their Chromebooks. Yes each student from grades 9-12 will have their own Chromebook that they can take home and have easily accessible at all times. We will have strict internet policy as well as a policy in place for misuse of the device. These are an extension of school property and should be treated that way. This will be in place for Fall of 2016 and will take an adjustment for all students/staff/parents as well as me.

It is that time of year again! Our Sophomores and Juniors will be testing on and off starting on February 18th with our Sophomores. I will be emailing a schedule to you that will show when testing dates are and for who. A reminder that these are a state requirement for your child must be tested. Please help us out in coaching up your son or daughter on performing at their best potential as well as behaviors that should be expected during any test. We have great students here at Garden Plain and I am sure they will prove it again during these assessments. Thanks for your help!
Message From The Counselor Parents & Students: We will be starting the scheduling process for next year soon. Please think about what you want to take next year and please make sure these are classes you would be interested in or wouldn’t mind taking. We had a lot of class changes this past year and are working hard to eliminate unnecessary changes. A couple reasons for this; 1) the schedule is hectic to change once everything starts and availability is limited 2) enrollment cost. If we are changing classes after enrollment then that messes up the front office in your accounts and how much you owe or paid. Please help us limit these issues by really looking into the classes you write down. If you have any questions about a particular class, please come ask me or talk to the teacher.
