PROGRAM ASSISTANT Context: Educurious is a Seattle, WA-based not-for-profit corporation with three main goals: (1) to create materials and experiences that will ensure more students are successful in high school and college and enable students to participate in the contemporary challenges of our world, (2) to support educators in implementing the Educurious solution, and (3) to enhance the career awareness, explorations and experiences of youth both in and out of school so they are career ready. Educurious (a) uses rich interactive media to provide students with accounts of compelling, personally relevant problems that are currently being studied by experts in contemporary fields and disciplines, (b) uses social media to scaffold students’ authentic participation in related projects, (c) leverages social networking technologies to connect youth to networks of experts working in contemporary fields and disciplines and teachers to each other through a national professional learning community, and (d) connects youth and employers across a spectrum of work-based learning experiences from networking events to internships. About the position: Educurious was recently selected by the City of Seattle to serve as the Mayor’s Youth Employment Intermediary. Our primary role is to match in- and out- of- school youth ages 14-24 with area employer-based learning experiences starting with the identification and filling of internships in 2016. The Program Assistant will work closely with the Employer Relations Coordinator and is responsible for providing administrative support to the overall Initiative. The ideal candidate should have experience in a fast-paced office or administrative setting, be detail-orientated and organized, work collaboratively, and efficiently manage his/ her time on multiple projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide administrative support to project leadership and staff. Execute on data entry, scheduling, travel, events, activities, organizing materials, and note taking. Coordinate with the Employer Coordinator to ensure all employee files are complete and accurate. Manage weekly/monthly communication efforts. Assist the Employer Coordinator with donations and follow up activities. Maintain progress tracking on project, inventory tracking for office and program supplies as well as payment tracking for accounts payable and expenses. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Experience Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook); Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously;
Ability to work as part of a team; Familiarity with contemporary online social network design and functionality. Knowledge of education, job development and workforce development strategies preferred;
