A systematic and practical study of the theology and practice of biblical missions.
Course instructor:
Robert R. Gonzales Jr. is a graduate of the Reformed Baptist School of Theology, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also holds a Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Old Testament Interpretation from Bob Jones University. He is the author of Where Sin Abounds: the Spread of Sin and the Curse in Genesis with a Special Focus on the Patriarchal Narratives (Wipf & Stock, 2010) and a contributor to the Reformed Baptist Theological Review, The Founders Journal, and Westminster Theological Journal. Bob and his wife, Becky, have five children.
Course lecturer:
Since 1980, Dr. James E. Adams has been pastoring the congregation at Cornerstone Church in Mesa, AZ, having served for years previously as a missionary in Colombia. He and his wife Nancy have three children: Jonathan, an attorney in Mexico and married to Elisa from Costa Rica; Deborah, wife of Tomi, Peruvian medical doctor; and David, who has started a new ministry-publishing company in Medellín, Colombia; and seven grandchildren. He remains actively involved in missions and literature work in Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Cuba, Argentina, Chile and other Latin American countries. He serves as professor in the William Carey Seminary in Córdoba, Argentina. His book Libertad: El Evangelio de Dios is an exposition of the gospel set in the Latin American culture. Also available in Spanish, Tamil and Portuguese is his book Decisional Regeneration vs. Divine Regeneration (in Spanish: Regeneración Decisoria). His volume War-Psalms of the Prince of Peace has been translated into Chinese and published in Spanish. Jim is a native of Arizona with theological degrees from The Theological Seminary of the Reformed Episcopal Church and Westminster Seminary California. Trevor Johnson and his wife, Teresa, are both registered nurses, and they serve a remote tribal group in the Papua region of eastern Indonesia. Trevor served five years as an active-duty army officer, is a grad of Reformed Theological Seminary, and is a candidate for the Doctor of Missiology (D.Miss.) from Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained and sent out by his sending authority of Bible Baptist Church in Saint Louis (www.bbcstl.com) and partners with Heartcry Missionary Society. Trevor and Teresa have been married over 15 years, have three children, Noah, Alethea, and Baby Perpetua, and are in the process of international adoption.

The student should prepare two book reviews, each being between 4-6 pages in length double-spaced, from the required reading (The Science of Missions and Let the Nations Be Glad) or from an approved book.
(4) Term Paper
When finished with the audio lectures and required reading, the student will write a final term paper on one of the following topics: (1) “An Old Testament Theology of Missions” (2) “An Analysis of Isaiah 42:1-4 and Its Application to the Great Commission” (3) “A Practical Theology of Evangelism & Missions from the Book of Acts” (4) “Biblical Principles for Church Planting Drawn from the Life, Ministry, and Teaching of the Apostle Paul.” The proposal of a different topic is subject to the instructor’s approval. The paper should be 15-20 pages in length and include a bibliography. (See Guidelines & Expectations for Students for writing format guidelines.) Lectures = 10%; Reading = 10%; Book Reviews = 30%; Final Paper = 50%
