The market is being fuelled by low interest rates and a shortage of properties for sale, resulting in strong competition for properties - particularly at auctions. Builders are paying huge prices for land that can be developed, and a large % of purchasers were of Chinese background. Mitcham, Nunawading and Vermont have had a record number of million dollar sales, and the Ringwood area is catching up with prices increasing faster than the Melbourne Metro average.
