RE-ENROLLMENT FORMS DUE Re-enrollment forms are due NOW! Parents, please update the information (especially email, school and projects), read the Code of Conduct with your child, and sign the acknowledgement of risk and photo release. If you have not done this yet, your child should not be participating in any hands on club work. About half of our club members have not returned their forms! PUBLIC SPEAKING WORKSHOP A Public Speaking workshop led by members of the SUNY Dutchess Competition Debate team will be held on Saturday, December 16 at a place to be determined. There will be a $10 fee for members, and a $15 fee for non-members (bring your friends). No fee for parents. Club Leaders please get a head count to me by November 10. This is an excellent opportunity for everyone. THE 4-H BAKING PROJECT The 4-H Baking Project will start again in January. Contact Nancy to join the mailing list.

VOTE FOR A SHOWCASE DATE! During our Achievement Event, a voting box was available to cast your ballot for the date of the 2018 4-H Showcase. At this time the votes are evenly divided between May 19 and August 26. Pros and cons? A showcase in May will not allow for any produce or floral entries, but perhaps those can be judged separately at a more appropriate time. Weather will be better. (Achievement books will be due in August as usual, not in May). A showcase in August has low attendance due to family vacations, but the summer is the more traditional time for a showcase. If you did not vote by secret ballot, please give your club leader a paper with your preferred date on it. One ballot per family please. Leaders please pass the ballots on to Nancy. GIVE TO GROW Below is information about sending supplies to 4-H’ers in Puerto Rico. Please let Nancy know if your club collected some of the items and sent them along to help your fellow 4-H members during the recovery process from 2 hurricanes.

4-H SKILLS DAY I am looking for volunteers, both youth and adults, to help plan 4-H Skills Day. Our first planning meeting will be on December -----. We might run this event starting with a few icebreakers followed by workshops that youth select. Half day, all day? That’s what the planning team will decide! 4-H JR. IRON CHEF Would we like to hold a 4-H Jr. Iron Chef event in 2018? The summer might be a good time for this. This event is already held in Suffolk and Orange Counties so we do not have to create the event, we have a template to follow! Of course, I am looking for a planning committee of 2 youth and 2 adults, so contact Nancy if you are interested.
