Volunteers are needed! If you want to help, contact your church or GCBA. See the director’s column for needs relating to the recovery.
As you know our county has experienced some major flooding. We are now in the Clean Out Phase (clear ing houses of fur niture, removing the walls and floor ing that was affected by the flood water and treating the house to prevent the growth of mold). The next Phase will be the Rebuild Phase. I have talked to the state conventions and to the North American Mission Board about helping us with that phase. We will need materials and volunteers to help folks get their houses rebuilt. I will keep you informed about the needs as they arise.
Our churches have done some amazing wor k in opening up their church buildings to serve as shelters, cleaning out houses and volunteering to prepare food to feed the people in Holiday Lakes that are working on their houses. We have close to 20 churches that have stepped up to take a meal to these people. Your church can join in. Just call Debbie at our office if your church would like to provide a meal. We are currently feeding between 150 to 200 people at Dinner. We are told that that number will probably go down as time goes by. We have two State Disaster Teams from Missouri and Mississippi coming to our area to lead the process of cleaning out homes. We are asking that your church ask your members to enlist volunteers to wor k along side of these teams. These teams will find, assess and assign volunteers to each of these homes that need clean out. We are also asking that your church begin to accumulate funds to help buy materials for the rebuild phase. We will notify you of the needs as they come up. July TEAM Meeting will take place on J uly 12 at Temple Baptist Church at 11:30 am. We will be previewing the movie The Insanity of God. Please send a representative from your church if you as pastor or staff minister cannot be there. We will also give you the latest developments on the recovery from the efforts to recover from the flooding. Donald
