Asking The Right Questions in the Math Classroom: The Usefulness and Benefits of Assignments and Homework (Grades 6-12) Content in this one-day workshop will focus on the teacher being a "facilitator of learning", not just the "conveyor of knowledge" or "sage on the stage". The presenter will share ways to assign fewer math problems for practice and how to 1 gain greater mathematical understanding from completed work. Teachers will learn to formulate questions for a variety of lessons that ask students to think and discuss deeper, rather than just finishing off an assignment of 20-30 similar math problems. The presenter will model new techniques for getting students to both verbalize and to discuss in detail what they are doing mathematically. DATE: TIMES:
