From death to life eternal, from sin’s dominion free, our Christ has brought us over with hymns of victory. Our hearts be pure from evil, that we may see aright the Lord in rays eternal of resurrection light; and, listening to his accents, may hear so calm and plain the voice of Christ, and hearing, may raise the victor strain. Now let the heavens be joyful! Let earth its song begin! The world resound in triumph, and all that is therein; let all things seen and unseen their notes of gladness blend; for Christ the Lord has risen, our joy that has no end.

Let’s Talk
“Let’s Talk” outlines the upcoming lesson for each of our children and youth ministries. The goal is to make parents and church members aware of what our young ones are learning so meaningful conversations can be started and specific prayers can be offered to God. Wednesday, March 23 St. Andrew’s Kids: We used our handprints, fingerprints and paint to tell the story of Holy Week as we remember all the special events that happened leading up to the joyous day of Easter. Sunday, March 27 FIRSTKIDS!: Today, we looked at Matthew 19:16-26. We talked about how we give our lives to God. This is the final lesson in our unit Treasure Island: Giving. Our key verse is Matthew 10:8: “Give as freely as you have received.” During church, we will talk about Easter. Youth Sunday School: We studied Philippians 2:9-13 and talked about what it means for Christ to have ultimate authority over all the earth, even when some people don’t recognize his authority. Chi-Rho & CYF: No Youth Group this evening.

A NOTE FROM THE SENIOR MINISTER
elcome to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)! We are glad that you have decided to worship here today, of all days! We are a liturgical congregation. That means we follow the seasons and celebrations of the ancient church. For example, today is Easter, or using the language of the ancient church, it is the Feast Day of the Resurrection and actually begins the Season of Easter, which lasts 50 days. Christianity is an ancient faith. Because of this, we have some traditions and practices that go back to the early years of the Church’s existence. Some of it may seem new to you. Don’t worry about doing anything wrong. If you aren’t sure what to do, just follow your neighbor. Worship in the ancient church is outlined in the Bible. In the Book of Acts and the Book of Revelation, we see glimpses of how the first century church worshiped. Every service has a fourfold pattern as outlined in Acts 2:42. You will find these elements in every worship service. The two main portions are the Service of the Word or the Apostles’ teaching (i.e. sermon) and the Service of the Table or the breaking of bread (i.e. Holy Communion). Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is invited to receive Communion. Today is the day we celebrate God’s power and mercy. If Christ is raised from the dead and we are in Christ, then death and sin no longer have a hold on us. We believe that God loves us exactly as we are, and loves us too much to leave us that way, so the life of faith is one of growth in holiness and grace. Our congregation’s mission is to Share Christ! Build Believers! Serve Others! That mission is not unique to our congregation, but is the call to all of Christ’s church. My prayer is that today, your life will be changed and it will be the first day of a new life in Christ Jesus. For more information about our congregation and how we worship, go to our website at FirstChristianChurch.org. My prayer is that your worship of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, will strengthen your faith. Thank you for being with us today. May you be blessed with a joyful Easter! Alleluia! He is risen indeed!
