Member Present: Robyn Roach, JoAnn Coyle, Brandon Cain, Scotty Andrews, Keith Baker, Jeremy Ramsey, Shane Sellers Members Absent: None Others Present: Jeff Meeds, Barbara Haynie, Ron Edwards, Briar Shawn, Karen Shawn, Steve Lucas, Christy Bremer, Cory Ringer, Renee Mobley, Tracy Massey, David Rutledge, Delena Gammill, Judy Ballard, and Sandra Knight Robyn Roach opened the meeting with prayer. The meeting was called to order by JoAnn Coyle at 7:04 pm. Minutes of the April board meeting were presented. At 7:06 motion was made by Robyn Roach to accept minutes of the April regular meeting as written. A second by Jeremy Ramsey. Motion carried, 7-0. Citizen Participation – Art Awards Gallery The meeting was turned over to Mrs. Haynie where she talked about the art awards that her students had won. Several of the students were present and their art was displayed. Mia Sparks, the Art Club president spoke to the board regarding the art club accomplishments and thanked the board for their support. At 7:22 the meeting was turned back over to Dr. Delena Gammill. Student Hearing JoAnn Coyle gave the parent of student ID #05625 the option to go into closed session or stay in open session for the hearing. A closed session was requested. At 7:23 the meeting went into closed session. At 8:09 the meeting came out of closed session. Dr. Gammill presented the recommendation of the Riverview School District for expulsion of Student ID #05625 for one calendar school year. At 8:10 motion was made by Robyn Roach to expel Student ID #05625 for one calendar year for 2015-2016, second by Keith Baker. Motion carried, 7-0. Policies Section 3 and 8 Judy Ballard presented the attached summery sheets for changes to the policies in section 3 and 8: 3.2 – Licensed Personnel Evaluation 3.6 - Licensed Personnel Employee Training 3.8 and 8.5 – Sick Leave 3.16 – Licensed Personnel Reimbursement For Purchase of Supplies 3.19 and 8.13 – Personnel Employment 3.30 – Parent Teacher Communication
Riverview Board Meeting May 14, 2015 Page 2 3.31 and 8.28 – Drug Free Workplace 3.38 and 8.26 – Personnel Responsibilities Governing Bullying 3.44 and 8.36 – Work Place Injuries and Workers’ Compensation 3.4.6 and 8.38 – Personnel Vacations 3.48 and 8.40 – Personnel Weapons on Campus 3.54 - Voluntary Teaching During Planning Period Or Of More Than The Maximum Number of Students Per Day 3.52 and 8.41 – Written Code of Conduct for Employees Involved in Procurement In Child Nutrition Program 8.11 – Overtime, Comptime, and Complying with FLSA At 8:30, motion was made by Robyn Roach to table all policies at this time, second by Shane Sellers. Motion carried, 7-0. School Choice Policy 4.5 At 8:39 motion was made by Scotty Andrews to move agenda item “C “ – School Choice Policy 4.5 to follow personnel matters. Second was by Robyn Roach. Motion carried, 7-0. Construction Management RFQS Dr. Gammill presented to the board the names of the companies that submitted for Construction Management. The board will meet in special session on Monday, May 18, 2015, to discuss the Construction Management RFQs. Summer School Judy Ballard presented to the board information on the 2015 Summer School Program. At 8:48 a motion was made by Shane Sellers to accept everything as presented for the 2015 Summer School Program, a second was made by Scotty Andrews. Motion carried, 7-0. At 8:48 JoAnn Coyle declared the meeting to be in executive sessions. At 9:25, JoAnn Coyle declared the meeting to be out of executive session. While in executive session, Personnel matters were discussed. Resignations Dr. Gammill presented the resignations as follows: Judy Perry – retiring end of June 30, 2015 Candace Anselmi – resigning end of June 30, 2015 Amanda Kiihnl – resigning end of June 30, 2015 Sharon Shafer – retiring end of June 30, 2015 Stephanie Himschoot- resigned effective April 28, 2015 At 9:27 a motion was made by Keith Baker to accept the resignations as presented, a second by Scotty Andrews. Motion carried, 7-0.
Riverview Board Meeting May 14, 2015 Page 3 Employment Dr. Gammill presented to the board the recommendation to reassign Rebecca Mobley from cook to custodian, replacing Renee Mobley , on a 240 day contract. Also, Dr. Gammill presented the recommendation from Tracy Massey to hire Cara Sills as a Speech Pathologist. At 9:28 a motion was made by Scotty Andrews to hire Rebecca Mobley as a 240 day custodian and to hire Cara Sills as Speech Pathologist, a second by Shane Sellers. Motion carried, 7-0. School Choice Policy 4.5 and 4.5F Dr. Gammill presented to the board the new changes to the School Choice policy and the School Choice Capacity Resolution. At 9:28, Jeremy Ramsey made motion to approve the School Choice policy and the School Choice Capacity Resolution as presented. Second was made by Keith Baker. Motion carried, 7-0. Reports Building - KES Mrs. Bremer reported that the students are loving the new playground equipment The PARCC test went smooth Tressie Smith is writing a 21 CCLC grant for the Kensett Elementary The Kensett Elementary Honors Reception will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6:00 -7:00 pm Financial Report The April financial reports were presented by Sandra Knight. Facilities Jeff Meeds presented to the board the following: - the KES new awning was finished on May 05, 2015. - Spurlock has prepared the final grading and are ready for sod. Also the sprinkler system repair is still in the works. Miscellaneous - Band and choir concerts were Monday and Tuesday of this week - Both Senior girls and boys soccer teams were in the state tournament today but both teams lost - Regions Bank made a donation to the ring fund - Mr. Rutledge was here on Tuesday - Graduation is Friday, May 15, 2015, at 7:00 pm - Scholars banquets for the elementary campuses will be Judsonia Tuesday, 5/19/15 at 6:00 pm and Kensett on Thursday , 5/21/15 at 6:00 pm - Athletic Spring Sports Banquet is Monday, May 18, 2015, at 6:30 pm - Enrollment is 1346 with RHS-397; JH – 207; JES – 354; KES - 388
