ANSWERING THE FREIGHT CHALLENGE Measure I is a proactive response to the growing congestion in our region. Southern California is our nation’s largest and most important center for moving goods from ships to people throughout the nation. The Inland Empire’s extensive Goods Movement network is composed of inland ports, airports, rail yards and distribution centers. These goods do not move for free. Our Measure is helping pay to improve and maintain a viable national goods movement system. SANBAG is working on six at-grade crossings that are located along the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroads totaling more than $275 million. Couple that investment with a robust program that is expanding commuter rail and seeking ways to improve overall mobility and air quality throughout the valley and it’s easy to see how Measure I makes a difference for San Bernardino County and beyond.

PROJECTS = JOBS According to the USDOT, infrastructure spending creates approximately 13,000 jobs per billion dollars of investment. Over the life of Measure I that equates to more than 58,000 jobs. In addition, by providing a local match, cities can leverage those dollars to maximize state and federal investments and accelerate the delivery of critical projects that will further expand the job numbers, contributing greatly to the local and state economy.
