Step two (2) you need to be registered by TA via the ITU online entry system by sending an email to Emma Whitelaw (

NATIONAL PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (NPS) REQUIREMENTS FOR RACES 3 & 4 A reminder that ALL ITU JUNIOR Athletes that wish to compete in Race 3 Brighton (AUS Junior Champs) and/or Race 4 Devonport (Oceania Junior Championships) must have completed a 1km swim & 5km run time trial by 16 February. Compulsory Window: 1 June 2013 – 16 February 2014 • All ITU Junior athletes that wish to compete in races 3 and 4 of the SCODY Australian Junior Series events MUST complete and submit at least one (1) x 1km swim and one (1) x 5km run time by 16 February 2014; o Race 3 – Australian Junior Championships– Sunday 23 February, Melbourne VIC o Race 4 - OTU Oceania Junior Championships – Saturday 1 March, Devonport TAS • NO TIMES = NO START at Melbourne or Devonport (Junior) Races! • If junior athletes are unable to complete the NPS by the due date (16 February) due to long term injury or illness may apply in writing to the National Manager – Athlete Development. o Application for exemption must be submitted by 10 February 2014. o NB – Application for exemption will need to be for cases of extenuating circumstances as the window to complete one x 1km swim and one x 5km run is 8 ½ months (approx). Therefore, an excuse for injury or illness in the last 2-3 weeks of the compulsory window will not necessarily entail an automatic exemption! If you are not sure you have met these requirements please contact your relevant National Talent Coach and/or respective state development coaches/managers to make arrangements to complete the time trials. 2014 ITU WORLD TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS SELECTION – Edmonton, Canada The 2014 ITU EDMONTON World Triathlon Championships Junior Selection Policy has been finalised by the TA Elite Selection Committee (TAESC) and available on the TA website here: www.triathlon.org.au/Resources/High_Performance.htm The two (2) automatic selection races for Edmonton are races 3 and 4 of the series. • Race 3 – Australian Junior Championships– Sunday 23 February, Melbourne VIC • Race 4 - OTU Oceania Junior Championships – Saturday 1 March, Devonport TAS Please ensure you read and fully understand the ITU Junior Selection Policy. In particular; • Complete an application form by 19 February and send to Emma Whitelaw. • To be eligible for automatic selection athletes must: o Meet the 90% National Performance Standards (NPS) times for swim & run and; o WIN one of the two selection selection races (Brighton or Devonport) • Anything outside of the above requirements means selection into the team is at the absolute discretion of the TAESC.

SCODY Australian Junior Triathlon Series winners will be recognised at the Triathlon Australia Annual Awards Dinner at the end of the season.
OCEANIA YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES QUALIFIER CONGRATULATIONS to Matt Hauser & Brittany Dutton who will represent Australia at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China in August. Matt & Brittany will compete in the individual triathlon and team up with New Zealand to form an Oceania Team for the Mixed Teams Triathlon Relay.
