Message from the Seating Committee July 2015 Dear Shomrei Emunah Members, It’s that time of year again when we prepare to make seating arrangements for the Yomim Noraim. Our goal this year is to expedite the process to the maximum extent possible so as to avoid confusion and maximize convenience to our members. We begin this year’s process by asking for everyone’s cooperation and understanding. We will try our best to give all members their first choice of seats; however as this is not always possible, we ask for your patience in the process! We remind you that family needs vary from year to year. We are trying to make accommodations to satisfy all of our members, whether they have just joined or are veterans. Our goal is that everyone in our Shomrei community feels included and comfortable during our Yomim Noraim davening. In order to get the reservation process underway as quickly as possible, we are distributing the enclosed forms and ask that the following process be observed: 1. Pre-reservations: If you are satisfied with the seats you had last year, please complete the form and so indicate that no later than September 2. We will make every effort to grant your request. 2. Changes: If you would like to change your seats for this year, or if you need more seats or fewer seats than you reserved last year, please complete the forms and submit them no later than September 2. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. Early Confirmations: We will send out email confirmations for all those in groups 1 and 2 by the second week in September. You must provide your email address (clearly) on your application form in order to receive this confirmation. Special Assistance: For those who require special assistance or who are not able to submit their forms by the due date, we will have one evening and one morning where you can come to the shul and meet with representatives of our seating committee to discuss your request personally. Those dates will be announced in shul e-mails as well as posted in the weekly bulletin. Any special requests can always be made through the shul office. Auxiliary Minyan (Social Hall): Reservations will be processed, as in previous years, based upon submission of seating request forms by September 2. Special requests can be submitted to Alan Taragin or Chaim Wealcatch. Please speak to either of them or email your special requests to Alan at
[email protected]. Please note that in order to process your request, your shul account must be in good financial standing. All outstanding account balances must be paid when you submit your forms, and the seating committee will be confirming this in order to be fair to all members. Payment in full for all seats is required together with your reservation. If you would like to request special arrangements or financial accommodations, please contact the shul office or email
[email protected]. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Sincerely, Avi Zuckerbrod and Chaim Steinberg on behalf of the Shomrei Emunah Seating Committee

Bidding Process for Aliyos Similar to last year, we will be selling the Aliyos for both minyanim via a bid process. Please use this form or send an email to
[email protected] (main minyan) or
[email protected] (combined minyan) and simply indicate the amount you would like to bid for a particular aliyah. Please note the opening bid amounts are indicated below. The information with the highest current bid amount as well as the initials of the highest bidder will be available on the shul’s website. We will, IY”H, update the website every few days. Bidding for Rosh Hashanah aliyos will be accepted until Friday September 10 at 6:00 PM. Bidding for Yom Kippur aliyos will continue after Rosh Hashanah up until Monday September 20 at 4:00 PM. Bid amounts must be made in $10 increments and all bidders must be members in good financial standing. Any bid entered during the final hour of bidding must be in minimum increments of $25. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept any bids by phone. Please feel free to bid on an aliyah for someone you would like to honor. Book of Life Form July 2015 Dear Shomrei Emunah Family, It is the custom of our Shul to maintain a Book of Life in which the names of departed loved ones are memorialized as part of our Yizkor services four times a year. Part of that prayer specifies the giving of charity in memory of the person whose name is remembered. Memorializing your loved ones in the Book of Life is a way of fulfilling this Mitzvah. This Book of Life also contains tefilos appropriate for the occasion, Moleh Rachamims for the Martyrs of the Holocaust, as well as the fallen members of the Israel Defense Forces and the Victims of Terror. PLEASE NOTE: In the interest of moving our services along at a pace acceptable to all, the reading aloud in shul of each name included in this book will occur on Yom Kippur only. During the other holidays, a single inclusive Moleh Rachamim will be recited.
Sincerely, David Zuckerbrod, on behalf of the Religious Services Committee

Kol Hanearim Chuppah Project July 2015 Dear Shomrei Emunah Family:
I am writing about a very beautiful project our shul has; the Kol HaNearim Chuppah. You can imagine the beautiful sight as the chuppah is brought in, held over the heads of our children and grandchildren, as the Kol HaNearim brachos are said. This will surely serve as one of the very special highlights of Yom Tov at Shomrei for generations to come. As your family, Iy"H grows, you are invited to add more names to the chuppah - the chuppah is infinitely expandable. If you have already added your older children, don’t forget to add the younger children. Be part of this very special project, and look forward together with your family to this wondrous sight on Simchas Torah. Please fill in the attached form and send it to Laure Gutman or to the shul office as soon as possible. The deadline is Friday August 21, 2015 We look forward to your participation in this very unique project. Sincerely,
Laure Gutman Chairperson, Kol HaNearim Project
