SENIOR HEALTH RESEARCH EVALUATOR Located in Edmonton, this position in the Performance Management & Evaluation Business Unit is responsible for applying research and evaluation methodology in the assessment of health research and innovation programs and initiatives. Our work focuses on important policy and system issues, uses rigorous and innovative performance management and evaluation methods, seeks to inform our stakeholders of best practices and involves working closely with clients to ensure that results are relevant, useful and make a difference. Reporting to the Director, Performance Management & Evaluation, you will play a leadership role in support of the planning, monitoring, evaluation, management and reporting of results of programs and initiatives. The role requires:
Experience in applying research and evaluation tools and methodologies in the context of health care and research such as: o Literature reviews (systematic and or rapid reviews) o Environmental scans o Publishing in peer reviewed journals o Research methods and advanced statistical analysis o Evaluation plans, frameworks, logic models and data collection matrices o Developmental, formative, summative evaluations o Economic evaluations (cost effectiveness, cost utility, cost benefit analysis) o Performance management tools (balanced score cards, dashboards etc.)
Apply a systematic approach to analyzing evidence that supports organizational decision making by conducting systematic and/or literature reviews, environmental scans, gap analysis and use of other best practices. Contribute to the writing and publishing of research articles for the organization. Portfolio analysis: analyze and summarize funded health research and innovation findings and their implications. Collaborate and provide research expertise to ensure scientific rigor and use of appropriate evaluation methodology for assessing and analyzing AIHS portfolios and programs. Use performance management and evaluation methodologies in the trending of investments in strategic focus areas, assess stakeholder needs and inform management decision for optimizing impact. Support the development, implementation of health research and innovation performance reporting. Support the development of quality assurance protocols for data collection, analyses and monitor reporting. Lead and manage various health research and innovation projects. Author, review and assist in the creation of project management plans. Contract manages research-related contracts and collaborative relationships with other research and evaluation organizations. Participate in research and evaluation committees such as working groups, advisory committees as required. Provide technical leadership, consult and deliver training and orientation sessions in research evaluation both internally and externally. Mentor junior staff.
You are customer focused and bring demonstrated contributions in the analysis of health care, research and innovation that supports decision making in optimizing organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement in service levels. Qualifications: Ph.D. preferably in a health sciences or social sciences related field plus a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in a health care and or health research environment in the practical application of advanced research and evaluation methodology, advanced statistical analysis and report writing (technical and non-technical). In addition, demonstrated experience in managing health care/research datasets and assessing data quality is required. Proven record in conducting and leading projects. Experience in fostering collaborations as well as managing relationships with clients. Demonstrated outstanding level of professionalism, including, ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tack and diplomacy. Additional experience in Economic Evaluation is an asset. Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered. Duties require exceptional conceptual and analytical skills, creative thinking, proactive problem solving. Salary Range: $75,590 to $100,786 per annum
