UBC Around the World

Kris Cain, InFaith Ministries: Last month I was able to take a seven day trip to Colorado Springs, CO and see a friend of 20 years. It was a nice break and a good trip. When I returned, we had another week long “Park Fun Day’s” event. We had over 70 women and children on the east side of Dearborn, MI attend. Thirteen children and three women publicly accepted Jesus as their Savior during this week. Many more went home with a copy of I John in their own language. They had heard bible stories, testimonies, watched a passion play played games and sang songs that communicated the gospel message. Please pray that God might continue to minister his truth to the many children and women who our team was able to interact and share Christ with. Our next big event was an “open air” street ministry in Windsor. I had teams come from various parts of Canada and the U.S. to help. The goal was to have volunteers spread out across an area and personally interact with the drug addict and alcoholic community in order to have connections that would bring opportunities to share Christ and minister to these people. I want to share what happened with Dillian, a 27 year old Christian who came to help. Dillian spent most of the morning on the street looking for opportunities to connect with people. He reported that as he tried to go up to people most of them walked away telling him they were not interested even before he said a word, or theY would ask him for money and then walk away. By noon he was feeling a little disappointed. He sat down in the grass and decided to eat his lunch and pray while waiting on the Lord for an opportunity to connect. As he was praying an older man walked up to him and asked why he was sitting on such a ruff street corner reading a Bible?

Dillian explained that he was a Christian and was reading while waiting for someone to talk to. The man grinned and asked, “could you read it to me?” The man sat down and Dillian shared his lunch with him while reading aloud the first three chapters of 1 John. When Dillian finished reading the man replied, “I haven’t been in a church for almost nine years. Not since I got mad at God when my wife died and I started drinking. Now I can’t seem to stop.” Dillian asked him if he wanted help and was able to pray with this man and help him connect to the local (free) Bible based recovery center and with a local pastor. I share this story because sometimes we don’t know what we should do or how we should share. Like Dillian, sometimes we need to simply stop trying in our own human efforts and wait on the Lord to show us what He is up to. In this case, God seemed to bring the opportunity to Dillian while Dillian was praying, reading the Word and waiting upon the Lord! Thank you for your prayers! Please continue to pray for these ministries and people. Also, please pray for new support partners to keep these ministries going. Thank you and blessings, Kris
