Memory Verse - 1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. Simon writes.....24th September 2017 Recently, I have been blessed by people’s kindness to me. Shown in a number of ways I have been very aware of care & concern for me and the church at this time. Thank you for the various ways in which you are kind! Tennessee Williams' play A Streetcar Named Desire (1947) contains the words ‘I have always depended on the kindness of strangers’. (Both Kate Adie & Katrina Kittle have written books by that title.) But it got me thinking about kindness and how important a quality it is for the Christ follower to have. In fact, St Paul includes it as one of his Fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-26. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Amen & amen & amen, I say! A clergy friend of mine was given a card written by a 6 year old....Dear God, please help the people that are getting married to be cind when they are together. Amen. I wonder am I kind? Do I show kindness at church to my fellow believers? Am I the sort of person who also will show kindness to strangers? And, if I am married.....am I c(k)ind to my spouse? Do people see Christ in me in the way I behave with those who are closest to me....with those who are strangers to me....and with those I worship and have fellowship with?
