Set Up AdWords To Send Keyword Data You’ll need to make just one simple change to your Google AdWords account so your keyword data is passed to CallRail. To receive keyword data, follow these steps: 1. In Google AdWords, select the “Campaigns” link at the top of the page.
2. Then, click the “Ads” tab.
3. Scroll down and click the “pencil” icon to edit the Ad you’d like to update.
4. On the Ad edit page, append the parameter "keyword={keyword}" to the existing URL. a. If your existing URL does not contain a “?”, append: "?keyword={keyword}"
For example, if your website is example.com, and your landing page is http://www.example.com/discount/, you would change your landing page to be: http://www.example.com/discount/?keyword={keyword} b. If your existing URL contains a “?”, append: "&keyword={keyword}"
For example, if your website is example.com, and your landing page is www.example.com/discount/?utm_campaign=display, change your landing page to be: www.example.com/discount/?utm_campaign=display&keyword={keyword}
Note: you literally write “{keyword}” within the brackets. Google will automatically substitute it with the actual keyword when sending a visitor to your website. That’s it! Once you update your landing page URLs in AdWords, CallRail will automatically detect the new data and display the keywords in your dashboard. Any questions? Contact support:
