Embroider Blocks: 1. Set machine to Embroider. Attach 6D – Dynamic Spring Foot. 2. Hoop the 12“x12“ (30x30cm) white satin with INSPIRA® Tear-A-Way stabilizer in the creative™ All Fabric Hoop II. 3. Insert an INSPIRA® Embroidery Needle size 90 in your machine. 4. Thread your machine with embroidery thread in the top and bobbin thread in the bottom. 5. Embroider design Q_37. 6. After the embroidery is completed remove the stabilizer and trim the block down to measure 8“x8“ (20.5x20.5cm) with the design centered. 7. Hoop a 12“x12“ (30x30cm) light pink satin with INSPIRA® Tear-A-Way stabilizer in the creative™ All Fabric Hoop II. 8. Embroider design Q_38. Do not add appliqué fabric in the center; skip that step in the design. Repeat with 3 more light pink satin squares. 9. After the embroidery is completed remove the stabilizer and trim the block down to measure 8“x8“ (20.5x20.5cm) with the design centered. 10. Hoop a 12“x12“ (30x30cm) light pink satin with INSPIRA® Tear-A-Way stabilizer in the creative™ All Fabric Hoop II. 11. Embroider design PRO_015. Repeat with 3 more light pink satin squares. 12. After the embroidery is completed remove the stabilizer and trim the block down to measure 6“x6“ (15x15cm) with the design centered on the diagonal. 13. Press under a ¼“ (6mm) on all four sides of the blocks and fuse in place using ¼“ fusible web.

2. Set your machine for sewing. Snap on the 2A - Fancy Stitch Foot. Thread your machine with rayon thread on top and bobbin thread in the bottom. 3. Place INSPIRA® Tear-A-Way stabilizer under the fabric and stitch 3 rows of decorative stitches to the left of the drawn line as illustrated. We used stitch #3.3.32 and #3.3.38. 4. Remove the stabilizer and trim the strip down to measure 3“x8“ (7.5x20.5cm). 8“ (20.5cm)

Assembly Instructions: Center Block 1. Snap on the ¼ inch Quilting Foot and engage the IDT™ system. Thread your machine with sewing thread on the top and in the bobbin. 2. Place the embroidered white satin block right sides together with the 3“x8“ (7.5x20.5cm) yellow satin strip and stitch using a ¼“ (6mm) seam allowance. Press towards the strip.

3. Place the embroidered block with the yellow strip at the top, right sides together, with the 3“x10 ½“ (7.5x27cm) taupe strip and stitch. Press towards the strip just added.

ILLU 10 Burgundy/Bright Pink Blocks: ILLU 11 1. Place the embroidered light pink satin block, right sides together with the 3“x8“ (7.5x20.5cm) bright pink satin strip and stitch using a ¼“ (6mm) seam allowance. Press towards the strip. 2. Place the embroidered block with the bright pink strip at the top, right sides together, with the 3“x10½“ (7.5x27cm) burgundy strip and stitch. Press towards the strip just added.



3. With the burgundy strip at the top, place the 3“x10½“ (7.5x27cm) bright pink strip, right sides together and stitch. Press towards the strip just added. 4. With the bright pink strip at the top, place the 3“x13“ (7.5x33cm) burgundy strip, right sides together and stitch. Press towards the strip just added. 5. Quilt Assembly: 1. Lay out the quilt as shown and stitch the rows diagonally together.

Note: The triangles have been cut larger than needed. Trim them down after this piecing is completed, leaving a ¼” (6mm) ILLUseam 15 allowance beyond the intersection points.

2. Fuse Sew-Soft Fusible Quilt Batting to the back of the quilt center.

Borders: 1. Fuse Sew-Soft Fusible Quilt Batting to the back of the 4 – 10”x55” (25x140cm) white satin borders. 2. Measure across the quilt and cut two white satin borders to that measurement. 3. Draw lines with a water soluble marker across one of the borders at 2½” (6.5cm), 5½” (14 cm) and 7¾” (20cm) parallel to the long sides of the border. 2½“ (6.5cm) 5½“ (14cm) 7¾“ (20cm)

4. On the second border strip draw the following.

5. Snap on the 8 – Maxi-stitch Foot. 6. Thread your machine with metallic thread on top and bobbin thread in the bottom. 7. On the border strips sew Stacking Stitches #6.4.27 and #6.4.28 on the 2½” (6.5cm) marked line. On the second border strip only sew as far as the 7” (18cm) marked line. Use the Quick Help for instructions on how to sew the Stacking Stitches. Be sure to change the presser foot to the recommended foot for the stitch. 8. Snap on the 8 – Maxi-stitch Foot. On the 5½” (14cm) marked line stitch Maxi Stitch #5.2.3. 9. On the 7¾” (20cm) marked line stitch Ribbon Stitch #6.5.9 using the narrow ribbon. Use the Quick Help for instructions on how to sew the Ribbon Stitch. 10. Mark the center of the sides of the quilt with a pin. 11. Mark the center of the two border strips. Pin the border strips to the side. 12. Sew the border strips to the quilt using a ¼“ (6mm) seam allowance. Press towards the border.

13. Measure across the quilt with the borders attached and cut the two remaining border strips to that measurement. 14. Draw the following lines across one of the border strips at 2½” (6.5cm), 5½” (14cm) and 7¾” (20cm) parallel to the long sides of the border. 2½“ (6.5cm) 5½“ (14cm) 7¾“ (20cm)

15. On the second border strip draw the following.

16. On the border strips sew Stacking Stitches #6.4.27 and #6.4.28 on the 2½” (6.5cm) marked line. On the second border strip only sew as far as the marked 17” (43cm). 17. On the 5½” (14 cm) marked line stitch Maxi Stitch #5.2.3. 18. On the 7¾” (20 cm) marked line stitch Ribbon Stitch #6.5.9. 19. Mark the center of the top and bottom of the quilt with a pin. 20. Mark the center of the two border strips. 21. Pin and sew the border strip with the stitching all the way across the border to the top of the quilt with right sides together and matching center markings 22. Pin and sew the border strip with the stitching partially across the border to the bottom of the quilt with right sides together and matching center markings. 23. Press the seams towards the border.

Quilting: 1. With a water soluble marker, mark quilting lines ½” (12mm) apart on each of the triangle blocks as illustrated. 2. Snap on the 0 Foot and engage the IDT™ and stitch on the marked lines.

3. Place the embroidered appliqué blocks on the large triangles as illustrated and stitch in place using a straight stitch.

Embroider Borders: 1. Set machine to Embroider. 2. In the bottom right corner embroider the following designs PRO_003, PRO_004, PRO_005, PRO_006, PRO_007, PRO_001, PRO_002 and PRO_014. Refer to the instructions in the Embroidery Collection book for the 3D Flower. Refer to the illustration for positioning of the designs. 3. After the embroidery is completed remove the stabilizer. 4. Satin stitch the rest of the stem on the large 3D flower (PRO_007). 5. Embroidery design PRO_013.

6. In the top left corner embroider the Dragon Fly, PRO_016 and PRO_17. Be sure to mirror image the wings, so you have a right and left set. 7. Embroider one set of the Dragon Fly’s Wings, PRO_018 and PRO_019 using two layers of Organza and INSPIRA® Dissolve-A-Way Max water soluble stabilizer. Embroider the mirror image of another set to ensure you have the left and right wings. 8. Sew the 0.4mm fine wire into the wings so they will be stiff.

Quilt 14

Final Quilting: 1. Place the backing fabric on a flat surface, right side down. Center the quilt on top right side up. Secure with safety pins approximate every 4“ (10 cm) all over the quilt. Start from the center and work your way out. 2. Snap on the Clear Stitch-in-Ditch Foot and stitch between the rows, around each of the blocks and the borders. 3. Attach the 6D – Dynamic Spring Foot. For instructions on how to set for free-motion, please consult your Owner’s Manual. 4. Stipple illu 20quilt around the large embroidered blocks.

5. Sew the 3D wings onto the quilt at the tips.

Quilt 15

Binding: 1. Join the 2½“ (6.5cm) wide binding strips together to make one long strip. 2. Fold strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 3. Starting on wrong side of the quilt, sew the raw edge of binding to the raw edge of quilt with a ¼“ (6mm) seam allowance. Sew around all sides mitering each corner. 4. Turn the binding to the front of your quilt and pin. Tuck in the extra fabric at the corners. 5. Straight stitch in place from the right side using the Bi-level Top Stitch Foot.
