Cricket Tournament A few weeks ago the two teams consisting of Year 5 and 6 children attended Hertswood school and took part in a cricket tournament consisting of schools from the local area. After a fantastic morning of cricket, the A team consisting of Year 6 children excelled and got through to the partnership finals; their conduct and teamwork were recognised and praised by the organisers of the event. Following this on Wednesday 15th June a Year 6 team attended the finals of the Watford and Hertsmere Partnership cricket tournament at Queens School Bushey. The team, captained by Domonic Ward, excelled and gave their all to the competition, working together to achieve a well deserved 4th place. All of the children in the team showed exemplary behaviour, conduct and sportsmanship whilst being ambassadors for the school; which was commented on and praised by staff members from other schools and the events organisers. I really cannot stress how delighted I am at the Year 6's who attended the finals they have done themselves and everyone they represented proud (Mr Welsh.)

Community notice from St Martin’s Church St Martin's Church has been approached by a telecommunications company about installing a mobile phone transmitter at the church. The transmitter would be located in the small tower on the front of the church. A small spire would be added to the tower which would hide the transmitter and would restore an original feature of the church as the tower originally had a spire. The proposal will be of significant benefit to the church by providing some income which we hope to use to improve our facilities for the community in the future. It will also provide improved mobile phone signal and internet connectivity for the village. We have been provided with robust evidence that there is no evidence of any adverse health impacts of this type of transmitter and they have been installed in many other churches and public buildings. We would only go ahead with this proposal if the plans are generally supported by the local community, and we will need to obtain planning permission and the necessary heritage approvals as the church is a listed building. We recognise that you may have questions or concerns about the proposal and we therefore intend to hold a public meeting starting at 7:30pm on Monday 27th June at St Martin's Church where you can hear more about the plans and ask questions. All are welcome to attend.
