Shisha Pangma. O ur expedition was m ade up of Setsuko K itam ura, Y oko M ihara, Yoshiko K ato, Keiko Tsurube, Y um iko K urosaw a, Y uko K uram atsu, Etsuko Otsuki, N oriko W atanabe and me as leader. We traveled by car from Lhasa to Base Cam p (16,900 feet) from M arch 23 to 31. W e followed the original Chinese route of 1964. O ur camps were established as follows: I, II, III, IV, V and V I at 18,050, 19,025, 20,850, 22,650, 24,125 and 25,250 feet on A pril 4, 6, 13, 25, 28 and 29 respectively. W ithout oxygen, I climbed to the sum m it (8012 meters, 26,285 feet) on A pril 30 along w ith two Chinese assistants. M
