The DASH of

f|wÇxç ZÜxxÇ “It isn’t birth or death. It’s the dash in between – the way you live your life – that matters”. The DASH for Sidney Green began with his birth to the late rachel Hawkins and Turner everett, Jr. on August 1, 1937 in Tallahassee, Florida. in the early years of his DASH, Sidney attended Shady Grove primitive Baptist Church # 1 where the biblical teachings taught at home were reinforced. He later united with Macedonia Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida, Dr. landon l. Williams, Sr., pastor. Sidney was educated in the public school system in Tallahassee where he attended rainey and Griffin Grade School and graduated from lincoln High School. While at lincoln, he was a member of the 1956 State Championship Basketball Team, a recognition that he cherished and spoke of often. As a member of the team, Sidney learned the value of tenacity, sportsmanship, teamwork and determination. Sidney was a graduate of echol’s College of Mortuary Science in philadelphia, pennsylvania, class of 1962. He was a licensed Funeral Director & embalmer having worked for several funeral homes throughout the state of Florida, prior to establishing & becoming co-owner of Brown, Green & Fralin Funeral Directors in Jacksonville.

Homegoing Celebration of Sidney Green

Sidney met the love of his life, Mary Garvin, in 1966 in panama City, Florida which they often referred to as a chance encounter that led to a long courtship and eventually marriage on August 19, 1971.

Sidney was a non-judgmental man full of wit and humor. He had the natural ability to make others feel at ease in his presence. So, it is no wonder that he chose a career as a funeral director where he was able to assist, comfort and encourage others in their time of grief. He was a diligent professional until his retirement in 2010.

I’m Free

Goodnight My Love & Chocolate Dove Sidney........ my husband...... my friend....... my confidant…..and the love of my life. i am thankful for the forty-five years of marriage and the fifty years we were blessed to have together. Words cannot describe how much of a better woman i am today because of you. i truly found my soul in my soul mate.

i will always love you!!!!! your Wife, Mary Green

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief, Lift up your hearts and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
