Boathouse Design Studio artists can work with you to create virtually any design or logo you can dream up. Images supplied by you in vector-based format speed the custom design process and can lower and even eliminate your custom art charges. Boathouse will evaluate any customer supplied vector art to verify if in correct format. If you do not have vector art, our artists can create that for you. Current custom art charges apply. Please allow 10 days for the development of your custom design from receipt of design information from you to final artwork creation for your approval.
An embroidery alternative suitable for designs with wide coverage areas. The wide areas will use colored twill fabrics with satin stitch embroidery around the edges. Like embroidery, digitized files are created.
Edit
A design is made with special film that is cut or molded to shape then transferred by a heat press onto the garment. Boathouse custom cuts letters and numbers and also creates multi-color mascots and symbols on our in-house machinery.
Edits are changes to an existing logo that require the creation of a new art file. Some common types of edits are the addition or removal of certain features in a design, the addition of an outline and logo size changes +/-10%. Current edit charges will apply.
Reorder The reuse of an art file originally created by Boathouse for a previous order, with no changes. No art charges will be incurred for reorder art use.
Set-Up When choosing from Boathouse’s extensive library of font styles & layouts, mascots and symbols and stock sublimation patterns we will set up your design for you. You select your colors, font style & text copy and we create your art specifically sized for the style(s) selected. We will also make text-only changes to existing/reorder art files at no additional charge provided a standard font is used. One-for-one color substitutions in reorder art files are also offered at no charge.
Vector-Based Art Vector-based art is a form of digital illustration where the shapes are created by mathematical based computer software programs. Creating logos and text are the most common applications for vector art. These images often need to be scaled up or down in size in a wide variety of ways for garment decoration. This necessitates the ability to zoom in or out without losing any image quality. Non-vector based art (ie: png, jpeg, camera images) will lose quality with resizing and are therefore not usable in the creation of art files for garment embellishment and sublimation.
Embroidery Most often used on Boathouse outerwear and polos, embroidery is a computer generated design that is stitched onto a garment by specialized automatic machines.
Heat Seal
Screen Print Most often used on Boathouse nylon jacket capes, fleece and tees, screen print is a decorating method that pushes ink through a screen cut with a design or motif. The screen allows only certain open areas to be printed on the garment. Boathouse can print 1 or 2 color designs.
Sublimation A special type of printing that uses heat to transfer dyes printed on specialized paper directly onto fabric. Unlike traditional screen printing which lies on the surface of the fabric, sublimation print becomes a permanent, dyed design that doesn’t crack or peel. Sublimation is open to virtually any design and color application. Boathouse sublimates a wide variety of uniform and training gear styles. Each style has a selection of available stock sublimation designs. Sublimation is also an excellent custom design application.
Tackle Twill A classic athletic decoration style used most often on Boathouse outerwear. Twill numbers and letters are heat sealed onto the garment and then tackle stitched around the edges to create a durable and attractive design.
