Plymouth-Salem High School Campus – 46181 Joy Rd Canton 48187. This facility is also known as the Plymouth Canton Educational Park (PCEP) and is located on Joy Road between Sheldon & Beck. Varsity Tennis Center – University of Michigan – 2250 South State Street Ann Arbor 48104. PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR TRAFFIC CONSTRUCTION!

FORMAT:

Matches consist of 5 courts – 2 singles players and 3 doubles teams. Exception – 2.5 Women play 3 courts – 1 singles player and 2 doubles teams.

ELIGIBILITY:

Only players who have played at least twice in your Local Flight are eligible to play. One of the two matches can be a default win. Women who qualify on a day and a night team of the same level are subject to special eligibility requirements (please refer to rule #10 on page 2).

Match entry fees are due in full prior to the start of your first match. Players must provide their own towels and ice. Players should also provide their own beverages and snacks. Please be sure to pick up your on-court and off-court trash. Ice will be available for injuries. Both PCEP and Varsity are school properties. NO Smoking & NO Alcoholic Beverages are allowed. A Player Tent will be available; however, please feel free to bring a small tent for shade and lawn chairs for use off court! T-shirts, v-necks, long sleeve t-shirts, and hats are for sale at the Tournament Site. T-shirts and hats are $10.00. V-necks and Long sleeve T-shirts are $12.00. Cash or check only. Checks should be made payable to “Metro Detroit Tennis Patrons”.

USTA/Southeast Michigan 2015 USTA League Tennis Championship Rules 1. USTA Rules, USTA League Tennis Regulations and “The Code” will be observed. Roving officials will be present to oversee all aspects of play. 2. Team Captains must report to the Tournament Desk at least 30 minutes prior to your first match. At this time, you will provide a contact phone number, be asked to confirm that you will be fielding every position for all of your scheduled matches, receive your lineup cards and local flight awards (10). Extra awards will be available for purchase. 3. Team Lineups for each match must be submitted to the Tournament Desk 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match time (this includes the first scheduled matches of each day). 4. If the lineup is not received 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time, a tournament official will be called for a team penalty as follows: A. 1 to 5 minutes late – loss of toss and one game for ALL courts B. 6 to 10 minutes late – loss of toss and two games for ALL courts C. 11 to 15 minutes late – loss of toss and three games for ALL courts D. 16 minutes or more late – default of entire team match 5. Order of strength is encouraged, but not required. 6. All team members on the line-up card must be on site and ready to play when the line-up card is presented to the Tournament Desk. Matches will be put on early if courts are available. 7. The use of cell phones and/or electronic devices during matches is strictly prohibited. Players in violation will be subject to penalties and/or disqualification. 8. All players must bring a photo ID; random identification checks may be made. 9. Unfortunately, scheduling accommodations or additional rest periods will not be granted to players who choose to participate on multiple teams at the Championships. 10. Women players who qualify on a day and a night team of the same level are free to play for both teams throughout the initial Local League Championship matches. A player that qualifies on two teams of the same NTRP level that reach their District Championship Match, must select one team on which she will play (she cannot play for both). Captains of women’s teams should be aware of all players on their roster who may have to choose between teams in the Championship Match. The Midwest Player Decision Form must be submitted to the Tournament Desk within 30 minutes after which the player knows that both teams reached the Championship Match. If this form is not received by the deadline, the player will automatically be assigned to the team on which she registered first. If the date & time of the two registrations are the same, the player will be assigned to the team on which she played her first local league match. This team selection is final and binding for the player.

All courts must be cleared 30 minutes prior to the first scheduled matches of the day. 13. NO Warming up on empty courts after play has begun for the day. 14. Matches will be the best of 2 tiebreak sets (first to 7, by 2), regular scoring, with a match tiebreak played in lieu of a third set (first to 10, by 2). A two-minute set break is available after both the first and second set but NO COACHING is allowed. A warm-up of 10 minutes is permitted (this includes serves). 15. Coman Tiebreak Procedures will be used for both set and match tiebreakers. 16. After the match, all players must return to the desk to report scores and return the used balls. Captains must sign the completed scorecard within 15 minutes of the completion of the final individual match of the team match. Failure to sign the scorecard within the 15-minute time frame indicates agreement to the scores as reported to the Tournament Desk. 17. Any weather related issues may result in delay of play, moving indoors, alternate scoring methods, or changes in the schedule per the discretion of the Tournament Referee. If you are not contacted regarding a change in venue, teams must check in at the playing site. 18. A Dynamic Rating Report will be run after the completion of each round for each level. Self-rated and players who received an on-line appeal, are subject to disqualification and remain at risk through the Sectional Championships. All matches played by a player who is dynamically disqualified will be reversed to show as (6-0, 6-0) wins for their opponents. 19. In divisions with one flight, the team winning the most team matches will be named the Champion. Ties within single flights will be broken using the following criteria: 1) the team with the most individual match wins, 2) the team winning the head-to-head match, 3) the team losing the fewest sets, 4) the team losing the fewest games, 5) coin toss by the League Coordinator or Site Director. 20. In divisions with more than one flight, a combination of round robins and single elimination will be used. 21. If a team defaults an entire team match for any reason during round robin play, all matches played or to be played by that team shall be null and void and will have no impact on the outcome of the standings within the flight. This team will play no further matches at the Championships. Any team that defaults individual courts or an entire team match will not be reimbursed for any match fees. 22. Any team committing a total team default at the District Championships is subject to further sanctions for the 2015 & 2016 seasons. All players on the roster who were eligible to participate at Championships will be subject to sanctions by the Southeast Michigan USTA League Tennis Committee.

DECISION OF PLAYER USTA LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP MUST Be Completed by INDIVIDUAL Player USTA/Midwest Section USTA League Standing Order: 1.04G(2)e a.) A player, who qualifies for Championship level competition within a division on two or more different NTRP levels, may play on any or all of these teams but there will be no accommodation in the championship schedule. b.) A player who qualifies on two or more teams within a division at the same NTRP level competition at the same championship will be eligible only for one team and that choice must be reported in writing to the championship director by the deadline set by each District Championship Committee and by 12:00 (noon) local time on the Monday preceding the state and section championship. A player representing two local leagues in the same district who fails to declare will automatically be assigned to the first team on which the player registered. A player representing two different districts, who fails to declare, will automatically be assigned to the player’s home district. A player must remain with his or her chosen team for all Championship play up to and including the National Championships, or their equivalent. After elimination of the chosen team, a player may not advance with another team at the same NTRP level.
