Southeastern China Gongga Shan Attempt. Our members were Masayoshi Matsudate, Kiyuharu Ito, Masaharu Moriya, Yasuhiko Matsuta, Yutaka Nakagawa, Kosuke Igawa,
Masaki Kawachi, Masaki Hayashi, Shinji Chiba, Seiji Takami, Suguru Kawakami and I as leader. We established Base Camp on September 15 at 3400 meters on the left side of the Hailuogou Glacier east of Gongga Shan (Minya Gongka). We placed Camps I and II at 4200 and 5000 meters on September 22 and 29. We fixed 16 rope lengths to reach the northeast ridge and establish Camp III at 5800 meters on October 13. We reached 6400 meters on the northeast ridge on October 30 but gave up because of heavy wind and bad snow-and-ice conditions. K i n ic h i Y a m a m o r i,
