“When I am gone, release me. Let me go.

So bless the memories within your heart.

I have so many things to see and do.

I won’t be far away, for life goes on.

You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears.

So if you need me, call and I will come.

Be happy that we had so many beautiful years.

Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near.

I gave to you my love. You can only guess

And if you listen with your heart,

How much you gave to me in happiness.

You’ll hear all my love around you soft and clear.

I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part,

And then, when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say welcome home…”

The Salter Family would like to thank everyone for their condolences, thoughts, and prayers. ~The Family~

, Pastor

James Edward Salter was born August 10, 1945 to the late Willie Frank Salter and Clara Salter. James was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church of Abbeville, Alabama. He attended Henry County Training School and Abbeville Rosenwald High School of Newville. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Walker; his daughter, Sharonda McNealey; siblings: Clara V, Carolyn, Ervin, Billy, Charles, Morgan and Louis. He leaves to cherish his memories five daughters: Pamela Salter, Sandra (Randell) Key, Lateisha Salter, Janetta Johnson (Waterburg, CT), Joyce Ackre (Lithonia, GA); twelve grandchildren, LaTreveya & Tyrone Salter, Dedrick Vickers, Muriel Key, Randall Key, Jr., J-shon Thompson, Amire Salter, Rhoshenne Johnson, Roshawn Knox, Whitney Long, Ashley Long and Joshua Armstrong;; four great grandchildren; sister, Sarah Salter– Fain (Jonesboro, GA); brother, Jimmy (Tommie) Salter (Montgomery, AL); five sisters-in-law, Lillie Salter (Newville, AL), Erie Salter (Detroit, MI), Betty Thornton, Willie Mae Ward and Evelyn Walker all of Headland, AL; a special friend, Yvonne Reynolds; numerous nieces, nephews relatives and friends who will also continue to remember him forever. On January 24, 2016, God’s death angel visited James at Westside Terrace. He was relieved of his worlds trials and tribulations and was awarded eternal life. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free I’m following the path God has chosen for me. I took His hand when I heard him call; I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way; I’ve now found peace at the end of day. If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Oh yes, these things, I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of Sorrow Look for the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life’s been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief; Don’t lengthen your pain with undue grief. Lift up your heart and peace to thee; God wanted me now He set me FREE!
