NEXPLANON® (etonogestrel implant), is a long acting contraceptive implant, which is much easier to insert and remove than its predecessor, Norplant. Long acting contraceptive devices are strongly recommended by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, particularly in adolescents and young adults, who may have more trouble with consistent use of other methods. This skills-based clinical training is being presented by Merck, the manufacturer of Nexplanon®. It is offered for licensed advanced practice clinicians and physicians only, and is appropriate for practices that plan to insert Nexplanon® in their office. In order to obtain the device from the company, practices will need to have a system in place for billing or being reimbursed for the cost of the product. Attendance is limited. There is no fee for this workshop, however pre-registration is required. and is limited to 20 participants Attendees must attend the full 2 hour training in order to be included in the database of trained clinicians and approved to order the product.
