Hefner, a 6-1 senior middle hitter from Archer, Nebraska (Central City HS), had 44 kills and 24 blocks while hitting .300 in four matches, averaging 2.93 kills and 1.60 blocks per set in helping the Wildcats win all four matches, three against then Top 10 teams nationally, to win the Colorado Premier Challenge title. Hefner’s top match during the weekend was in the title match against then #10 Southwest Minnesota State where she notched 13 kills and 12 blocks in a 3-1 win over the Mustangs. She also accounted for 12 kills, two blocks, two digs and two service aces earlier in the day in a 3-1 upset win over #1 and three-time defending national champion Concordia-St. Paul. The 5-7 outside hitter from Grand Island, Nebraska (Central Catholic HS), has six double-doubles this season. Last season, Fredrickson had 16 doubledoubles in 37 matches. Fredrickson had a season-high 20 kills in the Wildcats’ win over then #1 Minnesota Duluth on October 1 and a season-high 27 digs last Friday evening at Minnesota State. She had three straight double-doubles at the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver on Sept. 10-11, recording 14 kills and 18 digs vs. Regis, 11 kills and 16 digs against Concordia-St. Paul and a season-high 15 kills with 15 digs in the title match against Southwest Minnesota State. Entering this weekend’s road trip to Minnesota, Crookston and MSU Moorhead, Fredrickson has 771 career kills and 976 digs. She would join former Wildcat standouts Lindsey Koch (1,651 kills/1,874 digs from 1998-2001), Emily Schroeder (1,650 kills/1,298 digs from 2005-07), Jacey Kuck Schwarz (1,554 kills/1,409 digs from 2002-05), Jessie Pontow (1,377 kills/1,356 digs from 1995-98) and Renee Fuhr (1,358 kills/1,683 digs from 1995-98) as WSC players that have recorded 1,000 career kills and digs in a Wildcat uniform.
