Spuds Strike On Saturday Potatoes from local factory go on strike for one day to spend free time at CMEE NEW YORK, January 25, 2007 – Several pounds of potatoes from a local potato chip factory on the East End have called a strike on Saturday, February 17. However, rather than picketing, sources confirm that they have their eyes set on the Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE – we pronounce it “see me”). Citing no complaints with the factory, their wages or the treatment they receive there, the potatoes have mystified the local community with their declaration of a strike. Mr. T. Tot, foreman of the Kettle-Cooked division, explains, “We love our jobs, but we really wanted to go to CMEE. We heard there are some people there who really dig us. We don’t care if we get the sack!” Mr. Tot refers to CMEE’s celebration of National Potato Lover’s Month. Honoring potatoes and the agricultural tradition of the East End, the museum is planning potato-inspired activities to fill the Saturday morning. Children can make potato people in the drop-in art studio, do potato printing on a T-Shirt and see a special

Local potatoes are jumping out of their skins with excitement. Spud Juggler. A potato car race and a hunt for golden potatoes hidden in the exhibits will also be part of the fun. To top it off, kids can even take a tour of Marilee Foster’s microchippery — the maker of Tiger Spud potato chips in Sagaponack. The potatoes didn’t want to miss out on the action. After a long motivational speech about seizing the day, union leader Baked Tuber summarized, “Life’s a garden, man. Dig it.” We asked a representative from the factory to comment on the recent development. Director of Spud Resources tells us, “Well, we’re just really confused. The factory isn’t open on weekends. The potatoes don’t have to work that day anyway.”
