998. Start Line Notes / aa (aaa) A sunny start to Wales Rally GB this year, with the classic Great Orme Stage, last used in 1981, providing a dramatic opener to the final round of the WRC. 1. Sébastien Loeb (FRA) / Daniel Elena (MCO) (Citroën DS3 WRC) Very happy, soft gravel tyres on tarmac, its a very special stage 3. Mikko Hirvonen (FIN) / Jarmo Lehtinen (FIN) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Very careful, didnt want to do any damage. Nice stage, happy to be quicker than Loeb 2. Sébastien Ogier (FRA) / Julien Ingrassia (FRA) (Citroën DS3 WRC) Car spun and ripped front left wheel off in stage. 4. Jari-Matti Latvala (FIN) / Mikka Anttila (FIN) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Really good time, a bit nervous early on and then I saw Ogier's tyre marks on the road and saw where he hit the wall 11. Petter Solberg (NOR) / Chris Patterson (GBR) (Citroën DS3 WRC) Went wide on a bend and bent part of the steering arm I think 6. Mads Østberg (NOR) / Jonas Andersson (SWE) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Grip really good until 1.5kms in then went slippy, we saw Ogier's line in but not car. Car down on power 37. Dani Sordo (ESP) / Carlos Del Barrio (ESP) (MINI John Cooper Works) Very tricky stage but at the moment, all is ok 5. Matthew Wilson (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Taking it steady, very tricky in there with these cold gravel tyres 15. Henning Solberg (NOR) / Ilka Minor (AUT) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Took it steady in there, after we heard about Ogier going off 9. Dennis Kuipers (NLD) / Frederic Miclotte (BEL) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC)

Not easy on cold gravel tyres, slippy on the damp 52. Kris Meeke (GBR) / Paul Nagle (IRL) (MINI John Cooper Works) Had phone call at the start of the stage to say Ogier was off and Solberg had damage so I took it steady. 18. Ott Tänak (EST) / Kuldar Sikk (EST) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) These tyres are not for tarmac. Can't wait for gravel! 51. Martin Prokop (CZE) / Jan Tomanek (CZE) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Not a proper stage - looking forward to the gravel... 10. Evgeny Novikov (RUS) / Denis Giraudet (FRA) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Difficult stage, really tricky - we are taking it careful 19.
