18 September 2014 Dear Parents It has been a busy and really productive first few weeks back at St Aloysius. Your children have done really well, their work ethic is great and there is a lovely atmosphere around the schools. Over the last few weeks we have been able to open two new fantastic places in school. Last week our Prayer Room opened. The room was designed by the current Year 4 and includes beautiful stained glass windows. Also our Nursery has recently been refurbished. Both look great and to see the children’s faces when using these rooms is fantastic. Rewarding Positive Behaviour Over the last few weeks we have launched a new behavior reward system. It is intended to celebrate the fabulous behaviour of the overwhelming majority of pupils. The children are rewarded every day if they do as they should: work hard, show good manners and attitudes. If they do this they will “Stay in the Green” and at the end of the week those children who have “Stayed in the Green” will enjoy Golden Time. Golden Time is a timetabled treat time where the children can enjoy some fun activities. As well as this, any child who has completed something which we want to let you know about will receive a “note home”. The note home is a slip of paper to let you know of something great which they have done. We aim to use this system to celebrate the fabulous behaviour and achievement which we see every day. The systems will work alongside established systems like the weekly Head Teacher Award. Sanctions in School We are determined that our children will be recognised for their outstanding behaviour. There are some occasions where a minority of children’s behaviour is inappropriate and where this is the case we will warn our children (they will be given an amber warning.) At this point they are encouraged to improve their behaviour. If they do this, they move back into the reward system, they are “back in green”. If their behaviour does not improve they will be given a sanction, they are “placed in red”. At this stage we will start to involve parents because I know how supportive you are in ensuring your children behave appropriately. Very few children move into the red zone but where they do we will start to work with the child so that their behaviour improves. I passionately believe that all children have the right to work and play in a calm and happy environment and that means celebrating the amazing behavior of the overwhelming majority and targeting for improvement the tiny minority whose behaviour requires improvement.

Dear Parishioner We are compiling a history of our three St Aloysius schools, which will eventually be made into a book, and we would like your help. If you would like to help or have any suggestions as to what should go in the book, please get in touch. If you have any photographs, certificates or memories you would like to share, we would be very grateful. All photographs and certificates will be scanned and returned in the same condition as soon as possible – please ensure your name and telephone number are clearly marked. It would be great if you could date your contributions and give details about any photographs. Memory sheets and photographs can be left at the parish office, school offices or e-mailed to
