ALPENA SCHOOL DISTRICT 2017-18 ANNUAL REPORT TO THE PUBLIC

October 8, 2018 Both Schools are “Fully Accreditied” by the Arkansas Department of Education. The current enrollment of the Alpena School District is 527 students. This represents an increase of 3 students from the 2017-18 school year. 267 of these students are female and 260 are male. 45 are here through Legal Transfers and 27 are here by School Choice. We currently have 67.22% of our students who are receiving free or reduced meals. 1.14% of our students are in our Alternative Education Program. 8.35% are in our Gifted and Talented Program. 18% receive Special Education services.

CTE 7 Programs of Study in 3 Career Pathways on campus with a total of 35 completers and 18 Microsoft Certifications.

Test scores were at or above state averages and showed growth among students in both elementary and high school.

We offer Advanced Placement courses in all 4 English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. We also offer Concurrent Credit through Arkansas Tech University.

STATE FUNDING EXPENDITURES Last year we received $3,945,345.34 in State and Local funding. $2,751,539.37 was spent on employee salary and benefits. $188,705.58 was spent on bonded and unbonded debt. $619,793.52 Maintenance and Operation and Transportation. We transferred $384,687.97 to the Building Fund.

We also received federal grants totaling $440,712.10. We spent $244,643.11 of that in employee salaries and benefits. We spent $22,500 on professional training, $103,863.36 on technology, and another $18,020.18 went into the library, nurse, counseling and campus safety. We carried over $51,694.45 of our allotment to this year.

All of our School Board members are current on training requirements and are working hard to be sure that our students get the best education possible. . Our Annual Report will be available on the District website if you would like to view this information in more detail.
