The following guidelines have been established to ensure that the hosting of prospective student-athletes (PSA) is conducted in a manner consistent with NCAA and University regulations. The policy has been developed through consultation with Bradley’s Intercollegiate Athletics Committee, Braves Council, Head Coaches and Executive Staff, as well as the Compliance Committee of the Missouri Valley Conference. The policy has been reviewed and approved by Bradley University’s President. The philosophy of the University is that these visits should be a mutual exploration by the PSAs and the University officials (especially Athletics personnel) of whether the University and the PSA are a good fit for each other. While the primary emphasis during these visits is often athletic, the premise for them is that the PSA is making a decision about where to pursue his or her athletic AND academic future. The primary consideration, therefore, in selecting activities for these visits is to provide information that will assist the PSA and his/her family in making that decision. PSAs’ initial visits to our campus also provide an opportunity for them to see what behaviors are expected of our student-athletes. Student-athlete who serve as a host must understand that each and every one of them is an official representative of the Department of Athletics and Bradley University. Therefore, appropriate conduct is expected at all times. *THIS FORM MUST BE COMPLETED WHEN A PSA STAYS ON CAMPUS OVERNIGHT FOR AN UNOFFICIAL VISIT*

Please carefully review the following rules. 1. NO cash may be given to the visiting PSA or to anyone else. 2. PSAs must pay for all their own expenses on an unofficial visit. 3. PSAs may not receive transportation expenses of any kind during an unofficial visit. The only exception is a member of the coaching staff may provide a PSA with transportation to view practice and competition sites in the PSA’s sport and other institutional facilities and to attend a home athletics contest at any local facility. 4. Several students may host a PSA, but one student-host must meet with the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance prior to the visit to discuss these regulations if the PSA is staying overnight with the student-host. 5. All unofficial visits to Bradley University will include a significant educational component, including, for example, meetings with academic advisors, learning assistance personnel, attendance at classes, and a review of the University’s academic expectations. 6. The PSA’s host(s) will not use gambling, drugs or sex activities as part of a recruiting visit. This includes the use of strippers/gentlemen’s club or equivalent. 7. Underage drinking (below 21) is illegal in the State of Illinois. PSAs are not allowed to indulge in this activity or any other activity that violates criminal law. The PSA’s host is responsible for discouraging such activities and must report violations immediately to a member of the coaching staff. 8. If a PSA is of legal age (21) and may enter a local bar, the PSA’s host is responsible for ensuring that the PSA is aware that alcohol abuse will NOT be tolerated. Use of alcohol on any campus visit is highly discouraged. 9. Bradley University will not tolerate sexual harassment by anyone associated with our athletic teams. Student-hosts must be aware of the University’s prohibition of this type of activity and work to ensure that PSAs they are hosting conduct themselves appropriately. 10. Student-hosts should not allow recruiting conversations to occur between the PSA and a representative of our athletics interests. If an unplanned meeting occurs, only an exchange of a greeting is permissible. 11. A visiting PSA may participate in physical workouts or other recreational activities, provided such activities are not organized or observed by the coaching staff and are not designed to test the athletic abilities of the PSA. (OCE Exception for B-ball) 12. Student-Hosts may receive a complimentary admission (no hard tickets) when accompanying a PSA to a campus athletics event. 13. It is the responsibility of the University to ensure the safety and well being of PSAs visiting our campus. At the same time, it is incumbent upon PSAs and their student-hosts to avoid any situations or activities that would jeopardize their safety or would be against NCAA, University or local laws, rules and regulations. 14. PSAs will have a curfew supervised or arranged by Bradley coaching staff. I certify that I have read and understand these guidelines, and instructions for the purpose of hosting prospective student-athletes. ______________________________________________________ Student-Host Signature
