Hello Librarians,
It’s time to participate in the annual KYReads promotion to support Summer Reading!
Kentucky was number one in the nation for summers 2012, 2014 and 2015 in pledges to read, and I hope we can reach that same achievement for Summer 2016. The Summer Reading themes for most of the state’s public libraries this year are “On Your Mark, Get Set . . . Read!” (children) and “Get in the Game: Read!” (teens). Be sure to check with your local public library about their theme for Summer Reading. Although the majority will use the fitness themes, a few might use others. Ask for promotional materials from your local public library to share with students in your school.
Go to FindaBook, KY to enter your pledge to read, and be sure to show students how to enter their pledges. The pledge feature is scheduled to open May 1, but check the page to make sure it has been activated before demonstrating to students. Pledges can be made through August 31. (see attached screen shot of draft pledge page)
