OUR KNOWN SICK AND SHUT-IN MEMBERS “I was sick and ye visited me…” Matthew 25:36
Beloved, We live in times, where we have to constantly evaluate whom we can trust and believe. Many of us grew in the times, when the phrase, “My word is my bond” had real meaning. It gave us the ability to rely on the expectation that what one promised to do they would actually, even if we had to wait for its manifestation. Yet this is not just a 21st century expectations, even the early disciples had to trust in the word of Jesus, while they waited for the manifestation of the promise. Today is Pentecost Sunday. It is when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit as answer to the disciples waiting and thirsting for the manifestation of Jesus’ promise. They waited. They gathered. They prayed. They believed. God answered. Receiving the Holy Spirit was not the end of their journey. Rather it set them on fire with a renewed thirst for Godly action. I submit to you that as Disciples of Christ, both individually and collectively, we partake of same thirst. In fact given today’s circumstances our thirst may possibly be even more intense. In this Spirit, I introduce my next sermon series; “I am Thirsty.” In John 4:13 Christ declares, “whoever drinks of the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” I invite you come drink with me. As we go through this series, I pray that a renewed thirst for God and God’s works manifests in each of us. Or as Sprite would say “Obey your Thirst.” With a Shepherd’s Love,
Pastor Lacey

S ERMON N OTES
3 Therefore
I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
SERMONIC SCRIPTURE Numbers 11:24-30 24 So
Moses went out and told the people what the LORD had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the tent. 25 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied—but did not do so again. 26 However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” 28 Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ aide since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!” 29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!” 30 Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.
