We would like to have flowers in our sanctuary each weekend. Many of you probably have beautiful flowers in your gardens, which you would like to share with all of us. This does not have to be a formal arrangement, just a bouquet of your garden flowers. It could be one or two vases or pots of flowers. There are vases in the kitchen, or you may use your own. If you would be willing to provide flowers for one weekend this summer, you are asked to sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex.
Sunday, September 7, 2014 Following 11:00 a.m. Outdoor Mass
Every year, the Church of St. Dunstan holds a picnic at the beginning of September for parishioners of all ages, and to welcome all newcomers. Signup for the 2015 Mission Trip will also take place at the picnic! The picnic takes place on the lawn behind the church, immediately following an outdoor 11:00 a.m. Mass. (If the weather doesn’t permit an outdoor celebration, we will hold the Mass and the picnic indoors.) There will be a DJ, plenty of good food, activities for the children and an opportunity to visit with your fellow parishioners. Sign-‐up sheets for food and picnic day volunteers will be posted in the narthex within the next couple of weeks. A planning meeting will take place in the church hall on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist with logistics and are encouraged to attend.
During the season of summer vacation and travel, don’t forget about the valuable resource of www.masstimes.org when you are away from home and looking for Mass schedules. Safe travels!
EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Every Sunday during the 9:30 AM Mass we celebrate Children’s Liturgy of the Word. Children come to church, sit with their family until they are called forth at the beginning of Mass, then proceed to the hall where they pray together and share the scriptures in a way that is more meaningful for them. After a related activity they return to be with their family for the remainder of the Mass. All children are invited to participate. If you are willing to help as a leader or in any other way, contact Sister Mary at 860-633-3317 X 302. Volunteers are asked to sign up on the schedule that is on the bulletin board in the narthex. Information for each week is available in the altar servers’ sacristy.
Children's Bulletins Bulletins for children are available in the narthex every week. One bulletin is for children ages 3-6 and the other is for those who are 7-12. All children are invited to pick up a bulletin as they leave church each weekend. Children who would like to help distribute these bulletins are asked to see Sister Mary.
Mercy Center at Madison Summer Programs The RCIA is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who is not a Catholic and who would like to learn more about the Catholic Church. RCIA is for adults and teenagers who have never been baptized or for those who have been baptized in another faith and would like to join the Catholic Church. It is also for Catholics who have not yet received their First Eucharist and Confirmation. The RCIA meets two or three times a month on Sunday mornings after the 9:30 Mass. Members of the RCIA will receive the Easter sacraments at the Easter Vigil on April 4. For more information contact Sister Mary O’Neill at 633-3317 X 302.

Mercy Center at Madison is now accepting applications for fall entrance into two certificate programs with a legacy of over 25 years in existence.
School of Spirituality, a two-‐year spiritual formation program for adults who seek to deepen their understanding and experience of scripture, prayer, mission and the spiritual maturation process. The program beginning this fall is devoted to the study of scripture. The fall semester looks at God revealing, "who is God?" and the second semester focuses on God revealed in Jesus and, "who is Christ?" Classes meet on Monday evenings, 6-‐8 pm, at Mercy Center from September to April, with a day of prayer and integration on a Saturday at the end of each semester. The Spiritual Direction Practicum is a two-‐year program to train and supervise those who are discerning a call to this ministry of spiritual companionship. The program includes readings, classroom discussion on topics in spiritual direction, written assignments, self-‐reflection and prayer, and the hands-‐on experience of offering spiritual direction. Applicants must have been receiving spiritual direction for a minimum of six months before applying to the Practicum.
