7. Backstitching at beginning and end of stitching, topstitch outline and vein of each leaf on drawn lines; trim fabric to ⅛" from stitched outline of leaf. Apply fray preventative to edges of leaves; allow to dry. To form pleat in leaf, match dashed line to dotted line; securely tack pleat. Repeat for remaining leaves. 8. For petals, cut two 21" x 12" pieces of gold fabric. Cut a piece of paper‑backed fusible web slightly smaller than one gold fabric piece. 9. Follow manufacturer’s instructions to fuse web to the wrong side of one gold fabric piece; remove paper backing. Matching edges, fuse wrong sides of gold fabric pieces together. 10. Trace petal pattern, page 3, including markings, onto tracing paper; cut out traced pattern. Use disappearing ink fabric marking pen to draw around petal pattern 28 times on gold fabric. Follow Step 7 to make 28 petals. 11. For flower centers, cut an 18" x 6" piece of brown fabric. Follow manufacturer’s instructions to fuse web to wrong side of fabric. Do not remove paper backing at this time. 12. Trace both flower center patterns, page 3, onto tracing paper; cut out traced patterns. Draw around patterns on paper‑backed side of brown fabric piece for two small flower centers and one large flower center; cut out. 13. For large flower, remove paper backing from large flower center; place web side up on ironing board. Position bases of 10 petals ¼" inside edge of flower center, overlapping petal edges. Covering exposed web with removed paper backing, use tip of iron to fuse petals to back of flower center. Repeat for remaining flowers, using 9 petals for each flower.
