Quilt Top Assembly Refer to the Quilt Layout on page 6 for steps 8-12. 8. Arrange the blocks in 8 horizontal rows of 6 blocks each, taking care that the corner squares that touch each other from block to block are different prints. Sew the blocks together in rows and press the seam allowances in opposite directions from row to row. 9. Sew the block rows together and press the seam allowances toward the lower edge of the quilt. 10. Sew the Fabric N 21⁄2” x WOF border strips together with diagonal seams to make one long strip. Press the seams open. 11. Measure the length of the quilt center at each long edge and through the middle. If the measurements don’t match within 1⁄8” (32cm), average the 3 measurements to the nearest 1⁄8” (32cm) and cut 2 side border strips to this measurement. Sew the borders to opposite long edges of the quilt-top center and press the seam allowances toward the borders. 12. Repeat step 3, measuring the quilt-center width, including the side borders. Cut 2 border strips to this measurement and sew to the top and bottom edges to complete the quilt top. Press the seam allowances toward the borders.
