Project Overview • U.S. Department of Education – Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education Division of Academic and Technical Education Purpose: • Build capacity of community/technical colleges to improve CTE credential attainment rates by offering stackable credentials, a series of shorter pathways to associate degree completion associate degree completion. • Help students progress along the education continuum; earn a postsecondary credential with labor market value. • Deepen employer engagement and partnerships. Stackable Credentials • Responsive to labor market/talent development needs of region • Educational certificates linked to industry credentials • Active employer engagement • Support diverse groups of learners • Multiple entry and exit points • Flexible scheduling supports work‐and‐learn models • Incremental milestones yield credentials with labor market value on the path to degree attainment

Who Can Apply
Network Composition • Opportunity to form sector‐focused networks f ( ) y / • Size: Two to four (2‐4) community and/or technical colleges; one serving as lead • Program Area: Single sector focus (e.g. IT, adv. mfg, etc.); colleges can jointly develop a career pathway or each can develop different pathways within the sector. • Proximity: Located within reasonable distance of each other to allow for face‐to‐face other to allow for face to face meetings and site visits; meetings and site visits; do not have to be in same state.

Network Examples (Just a few…) • Colleges within a state: – create a new series of stackable credentials – replicate a statewide program or process from one sector to another – collaborate to convert noncredit certificates to credit‐bearing stackable credentials • A group of colleges work together to scale a successful single institution model across a network single‐institution model across a network. • Colleges from neighboring states form a sector‐based network to work with regional employers on stackables.

Technical Assistance Activities TA coach will work with their network colleges to: p g y • Assess programs of study and student outcomes of current or proposed stackable credentials. • Assess current state of employer engagement. • Determine opportunities and challenges for network’s proposed activities. • Guide development of action plan; support both network and individual college needs network and individual college needs. • Provide guidance and support through coaching calls, emails, and webinars.

Technical Assistance Activities • Enlist subject matter experts as needed to recommend practical solutions on specialized topics. • Identify cross‐cutting issues and potential opportunities for partnerships with other project networks by hosting webinars to support collaboration.
