ROLLER TELESCOPIC SLIDES
COST EFFECTIVE The new roller telescopic slides TLN and TQN offer many of the technological advantages from the top-range slides, but with a more simplified construction to offer a range of Cost-Effective roller telescopics with good load capacities for industrial applications. All models are available in KB-version for high corrosion resistance. The complete INOX slides TLAX and TQAX are available in P-version with rails and intermediate S-element electro-polished for very high corrosion resistance.
GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
HIGH PERFORMANCE TLR and TLQ series represent the markets highest performance telescopic slides, with top features for all kinds of industrial high frequency applications, including variable and vertical stroke : Hardened and honed raceways – Double row ball-bearings – Wipers with incorporated pre-oiled felt for raceway lubrication - Suitable for harsh ambient environment as with rollers, so much less sensitive than ball-cage slides . TLR-series offers unique Self-Aligning capacity when used in pairs. TLQ-series offers the unique possibility for the individual customer setting of desired stroke.

BALL CAGE TELESCOPIC SLIDES HEAVY LOADS The classic TLS, THS and TQS are robust ball-cage telescopics slides for general heavy duty industrial applications, which require high loads capacities, low flexion and smooth movement. The SR semi-telescopic slide is the base components of the full telescopics, now offered in two versions, with 50% or 75% extension of its length, to one or two sides. The SR semi-telescopic slides are hardened rails; patented T RACE NOX-treatment for high depth nitride hardening with black oxidation, assuring long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance, much superior performance compared to traditional zinc-plated slides. EXTREME LOADS New TH2-3-4 series offer the markets highest load capacities ball-cage slides, - 2,5m extension with 4000Kg for a pair. Extreme load capacities with very limited flexion at competitive prices due to modular components for the complete TH-system. The base component is the SR43 semitelescopic ball-cage slide, with more than a decade of approved problem-free installations around the world for heavy duty applications. The introduction of the TH Series sees new special robust impact absorbing rubber stoppers between the rails and intermediate element to assure a smooth and silent dragging of the intermediate element.

SELF-ALIGNING CAPABILITY When TLR slides are used in pairs, they offer the possibility to absorb minor structural errors or nonprecise installation, which otherwise would much increase the required force for moving the mobile part, in both extending and closing direction. Such “binding-problems” for installation on non precise structures, common for ball-cage slides and can be eliminated/much reduced with a pair of self-aligning TLR..A slides. A problem of heavy binding will consequently much reduce load capacity and expected life-time. The selfaligning capacity is obtained by having a combination of floating and guiding rollers in the TLR..A. i.e. allowing for a minor rotation of the rails whilst maintaining the preload in both upper and lower rails. The suffix A in TLR..A, indicates “Aligning” The concept is well illustrated in the catalogue section MONORACE , for which the base components have their origin. To be noted that the rotation ex. of the TLR28A slide hereby changes the nominal value of 18,6mm to 17,2mmm ( S min) – 19,0mm ( S max) while compensating dimensional errors on mobile structures or distance errors between the two lateral sides of fixed structures, for which the upper rails are fixed to. The TLR..A is in general always used as a pair with a standard TLR, to assure good lateral stability. However good self-aligning can also be obtained for movement of vertical panels, with the use of TLR..A at the top to absorb some mis-alignment, and with some retainer guidance at lower part.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TLR telescopic roller slides are composed from the same basic components as the MR family. Strong double row ball-bearings and patented T RACE-NOX 1.0 treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assembled to a rigid intermediate S-shaped element, provide excellent smooth and play-free running performance, along with high load capacities and low flexion. Strong wipers with incorporated pre-oiled felt assure good cleaning and proper lubrication of the raceways for long lifetime with reduced maintenance. The intermediate element is dragged out/ in by strong rubber damping stoppers thus much reducing any bumping impact from the intermediate element during opening/ closing. TLR slides are also suitable in dusty ambient environments where ballcage slides tend to fail when impurities contaminate and permeate into the ballcage’s small ball arrangement. The slides feature a Unique Self-Aligning feature when TLR rails are used in a pair, see description page 14. INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION: TLR slides are especially recommended for high frequency applications, where long service requirements and low maintenance are necessary. Roller telescopics are superior for motorized automation with or without variable stroke-cycles, to eliminate the typical problem of ball-cage creeping that subsequently can cause serious motor jamming-problems, when increased motor power is instantly required to re-position the ball-cage. The materials and surface treatments assure a general high standard of corrosion resistance. With additional black electro coating, KL or KB -version, the TLR slider becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke are available. The listed load capacities Co rad, are per single slide, with the load centered, i.e. in the middle of the extended lower rail, P. In case the load is not centered, ex. The load is more towards tip, the load capacity is reduced, please refer to page 48. BASIC
Roll formed steel rails with patented “T RACE-NOX” ; nitride hardening and black oxidation treatment. The rails are cut to size after treatment, so the rail ends are protected by protective spray. The rollers are core hardened steel, while the intermediate steel S-element is protected with black epoxi electro coating - “T RACE e-coating 1.0”.
TLND40-1010-KL
KL
As a basic TLN product but with additional black “T RACE e-coating 1.0” on the rails, for high corrosion resistance (min 700 hours resistance in salt fog) . The rail has no T RACE e-coating on the raceway contact area with the rollers, as masked before the treatment. The raceways are anyhow with standard oxidation while the wipers with incorporated pre-oiled felt assure lubrication and corrosion protection of raceways.
TLND40-1010-CW
CW o CR
As basic version with colored aesthetic finish T RACE p-colored 1.0 CW version (white color) and CR (red color) offer also a high resistance to corrosion. The treatment is deposited over the entire surface of the guides, toexcept for the raceways that are still protected from oxidation by basic black and the lubricating film, and on the intermediate except.

TLN/TLN..HP roller telescopic slides offer the markets best ratio of Price vs Performance, thanks to innovative constructive design that combines cost-effective rails with advanced technology. The guides are made of roll profiled sheet steel of particular precision and high finish, fully hardened with the innovative treatment to the Ball-bearing slides using the patented T RACE-NOX treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assembled to a rigid intermediate S-shaped element which provide excellent smooth and play-free running performance, along with high load capacities and low flexion. The intermediate element is dragged out/in by strong rubber damping stoppers thus much reducing any bumping impact from the intermediate element during opening/closing. TLN.. HP slides are the High-Performance version of standard TLN slides for which additional rollers are implemented to much increase the load capacity, circa. 40-50% more than standard - maintaining an unchanged set of external dimensions. TLN slides are more than suitable in dusty ambient environments where ball-cage slides tend to fail when impurities contaminate and permeate into the ball-cage’s small ball arrangement. INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION: TLN slides are especially suited for high frequency applications, where requirements are present for long service and low maintenance. With additional black electro coating, KB-version, the TLN slide becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient conditions. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke is available.

TLAX roller telescopic slides are made from AISI 304 rails and intermediate S-element. The rollers are AISI 404 hardened steel, with 2RS seals and lubricated for life with grease for longevity and low temperature applications. The TLAX are cost effective INOX slides with a much superior smooth, silent, play-free running, compared to traditional ball-cage telescopics. The slides are equipped with rubber stoppers that smoothly drag the intermediate element along the movement. TLAX is ideal for use in medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, medical industries or maritime ambient. The slides have the additional benefit that they can be easily washed, due to its open construction. For very servere environmental conditions, rails and S-element can too be supplied in P-version, with Electro Polishing featuring a high glossy finish, which provides a much improved corrosion resistance compared to standard version, assuring min. 1000 hours in salt spray fog test. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke are available. Load Co rad refers to a single slide

CUSTOMIZED STROKE TLQ slides offer the unique possibility to easily customize the actual stroke H, to individual needs by the standard products. This obtained simply by repositioning the slider distance “A” for “Fixed sliders” and distance “B” for “Mobile sliders” , with different distances than indicated on this page. Just keep in mind that distance A is always bigger than B. ” to maximize the load capacity. The concept is that by reducing distances A and B the total stroke increases but the Load capacity decreases, conversely increasing the distances A and B the total stroke is reduced, while the load capacity increases. Contact T RACE’s Technical office for load capacities according to customized stroke.

TLQ roller telescopics are very compact slides with a square cross section. The slides offer good load capacities in both the axial and radial directions. They are particularly suitable for vertical applications, as more compact and less heavy in weight than the TLR-series. The slide is composed of two single rails fixed together to form a rigid H-profile as an intermediate element. The same base components for TLQ come from our MRSeries; patented T RACE-NOX treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, double row bearings for excellent smooth play-free movement. Strong wipers with incorporated pre-oiled felt assure good cleaning and proper lubrication of the raceways for long lifetimes with reduced maintenance. Rubber stoppers assure silent running and smooth movement of the intermediate element. INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION: TLQ slides are especially specified for high frequency applications, where requirements for long service and low maintenance are typical. Roller telescopics are superior for motorized automation with or without variable strokecycles, to eliminate the typical problem of ball-cage creeping that subsequently can cause serious motor jamming-problems, when increased motor power is instantly required to re-position the ball-cage. The materials and surface treatments assure a generally high standard of corrosion resistance. With additional black electro coating, KB-version, the TLQ slide becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient situations. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke can be made available. The capacity loads refer to a single slide.

CUSTOMIZED STROKE TQN slides offer the unique possibility to easily customize the actual stroke H, to individual needs by the standard products. This obtained simply by repositioning the slider distance “A” for “Fixed sliders” and “Mobile sliders”, with different distance than indicated on this page. The concept is that by reducing distances A the total stroke increases but the Load capacity decreases, conversely increasing the distances A the total stroke is reduced, while the load capacity increases. Contact T RACE’s Technical off. for load capacities according to customized stroke.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TQAX roller telescopics are very compact and are manufactured from complete INOX slides with a square cross section. The slides offer good load capacities both axial and radial. Particularly suitable for vertical applications, as more a compact and less heavy weight item than the TLN-series. The slide is composed by two single rails fixed together to form a H-profile as intermediate element. The same base components as for TLAX, from the Costeffective LAX-Series; AISI 304 rails and single row bearings in hardened AISI 440 with 2RS seals and lubricated for life with alimentary and low temperature grease, for smooth play-free movement. Rubber stoppers assure silent movement of the intermediate element. These are ideal slides for use in medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, alimentary industries, or in high corrosive ambient atmospheres such as marine equipment.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TLS ball-cage telescopic slides are composed of two SR semi-telescopic slides fixed to a rigid intermediate S-element and thus assure high load capacities combined with low flexion. Both inner and outer rail are with patented T RACE-NOX 1,0 treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assuring a long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. The intermediate element is dragged out/in by strong rubber damping stoppers so a much reduced impact interference of intermediate element during opening/closing. Patented T RACE-NOX treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zinc-plated ball-cage slides, which very soon have the zinc worn away at the raceway contact points, with the result being increased play/shaky movements. The standard preload setting is a nominal play to absorb minor inaccuracies of assembly structure, while for precision applications we generally recommend to prefer the preloaded version, - customized version. The materials and surface treatments assure a general high standard of corrosion resistance. With additional black electro coating, KBversion, the TLS slide becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient environmental conditions. Upon request, a customized version with longer extension or both customized length and stroke is available. Load Co rad refers to a single slide.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TLS.D is basically a standard TLS, but with a double extension, I.e. full stroke left side and full stroke right side. As the stopper occupies a constant space on the external rail, the stroke each side is 45-50mm less than the length of the TLS.D, while the standard TLS has a stroke a bit longer than its length. The TLS.D are ball-cage telescopic slides and are composed of two SR semi-telescopic slides fixed to a rigid intermediate S-element therefore assuring high load capacities with low flexion. Both inner and outer rail are with patented T RACE-NOX treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assuring a long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. The intermediate element is dragged out/in by strong rubber damping stoppers so features much reduced impacting bumps between the intermediate element during opening/closing. Patented T RACE-NOX treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zinc-plated ballcage slides, which very soon the zinc will be worn off at the raceway contact points, with the result quite quickly of much increased play/shaky movements. The standard preload setting features nominal play to absorb minor inaccuracies of assembly structure, while for precision application is in general preferred preloaded version, - customized version. The materials and surface treatments assure a general high standard of corrosion resistance. With additional black electro coating, KBversion, the TLS.D slide becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient conditions being present. Upon request, we can offer customized length and stroke. Load Co rad refers to a single slide.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TH2 is designed to be a telescopic slide for very heavy loads up to a 2 metre extension and is composed of two SR semitelescopic slides fixed to a highly rigid intermediate element. To optimise the load capacity, the two semi-telescopic slides are manufactured with different strokes. The slide fixed to the structure moves about 2/5ths of total stroke, while the slide fixed to the extending part moves 3/5ths of the total stroke. Hereby they present as nonsymmetric slides, with a “Right-side” and “Left-side” version (Handed). The SR semi-telescopic slides are with patented T RACE NOX1.0 treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assuring a long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. The presence of special robust impact absorbing rubber stoppers between the rails and intermediate element assure a smooth and silent dragging motion of the intermediate element. Patented T RACE-NOX treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zincplated ball-cage slides, which very soon will have the zinc worn away at the raceway contact points, with the result relatively soon of increased play/shaky movements. The materials and surface treatments assure a general high standard of corrosion resistance. With additional black electro coating, KB-version, the TH2 slide becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient environments. Upon request, customized versions with longer extensions or both customized length and stroke can be made available. Load Co rad refers to a single slide

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TH3 is designed to be a telescopic slide for extreme high loads up to a 2,3 metre extension, composed of three SR semitelescopic slides fixed to a H-shaped rigid intermediate beam, assuring very high loads with very low flexion yet good lateral stability. The SR semi-telescopic slides are with patented T RACE NOX 1.0 treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assuring long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. The presence of special robust impact absorbing rubber stoppers between the rails and intermediate element assure a smooth and silent motion dragging the intermediate element. As the slides are non-symmetric slides, there is a “Right-side” and “Left-side” version. Patented T RACE-NOX 1.0 treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zinc-plated ball-cage slides, which very soon have the zinc worn away at the raceway contact points, with the result being soon an increase in play/shaky movements. The materials and surface treatments assure a general high standard of corrosion resistance. With additional black electro coating, KB-version, the TH3 slide becomes suitable for outdoor applications or very humid ambient environments. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke can be produced. Load Co rad refers to a single slide.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TSQ ball-cage telescopic slides are composed by connecting 2 SR semitelescopic slides to make a square crosssection, with the two central rails forming a H shaped intermediate element. This configuration offers very compact size with good radial and axial load capacities, for shorter to medium length slides. The SR semi-telescopic slides are with patented T RACE NOX 1.0 treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assuring a long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. The TSQ slide is completely symmetric, so it can be used left and right hand side. The slide can also perform single and double strokes with the same extension. For TSQ28/43 this is obtained just by removing two small stopper-screws fixed at the ends, while for TSQ35 the version is standard made for single/double stroke. NB for TSQ35, this also means that when used for single stroke, the intermediate element can freely move to both left and right side, unlike the TSQ28/43. Unlike all TRACE’s other telescopic slides, the TSQ has small square-head metal pins for dragging the intermediate element, when opening/closing. Hereby some “metallic-noise” of the impact is created when the pin hits the intermediate element to drag it out/in. For single stroke applications we recommend the new designed TSQR28/43 and TSQS35S which have incorporated robust rubber stoppers between the rails and intermediate element to ensure a smooth and silent dragging of the intermediate element even for high frequency industrial automation. Patented T RACE-NOX 1.0 treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zinc-plated ball-cage slides, which very soon has the zinc depleted at the raceway contact points, with the result in a short space of time being much increased play/shaky movements. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke is available. Load Co rad/ax refers to a single slide.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS TSQR28/43 and TSQ35S are designed for single stroke, with rubber stoppers for smooth and silent movement of the intermediate element. The slides are composed by connecting two SR semitelescopic slides to make a square crosssection, with the two central rails forming a H-shaped intermediate element. This configuration offers a very compact size with good radial and axial load capacities, for short to medium length slides. The SR semi-telescopic slides features the patented T RACE NOX 1.0 treatment; high depth nitride hardened rails with black oxidation, assuring a long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. The TSQ slide is completely symmetric, so it can be used left and right side (Un-handed). Patented T RACE-NOX1.0 treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zincplated ball-cage slides, which very soon have the zinc diminshed at the raceway contact points, with the result being quickly seen as increased play/shaky movements. Upon request, customized versions with longer extension or both customized length and stroke can be accomodated. Load Co rad/ax refers to a single slide.

SR semi-telescopic slides allow for half of its length’s extension to one or both sides. The SR28/43 are with a small ball-cage limit stroke screw, that needs to be taken out in case both side extension is requested. SR35 is without this screw. Load Capacity based on single rail

BASIC
Cold drawn steel rails with patented “T RACE-NOX 1.0” ; high depth nitride hardening and black oxidation treatment. The rails are cut to size after treatment, so the rail ends are protected by protective spray. All threaded holes are without treatment. Ball-cages in zinc plated steel, while balls hardened steel.
SR43-1010-KL
KL
As a basic TSQ product but with additional black “T RACE e-coating 1.0” on the rails, for high corrosion resistance (min 700 hours resistance in salt fog) . The rail has no T RACE e-coating on the raceway contact area with the rollers, as masked before the treatment. The raceways are anyhow with standard oxidation while the wipers with incorporated pre-oiled felt assure lubrication and corrosion protection of raceways.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS SR semi-telescopic slides are hardened rails, - patented T RACE NOX 1.0 treatment for high depth nitride hardened with black oxidation, assuring a long lifetime without wear yet maintaining a good corrosion resistance. High-Tech applications: The SR telescopics are used in many High-Tech applications, requiring smooth and play-free run for the full product lifetime, this is not possible with traditional zinc-plated slides. These are very cost-effective solutions when Double-Side extension, to replace more expensive standard telescopic rails with only one side extension. High Load capacity: As SR slides are only composed of 2 profiles, without any intermediate element, they assure very high load capacities and are practically without any flexion. Patented T RACE-NOX 1.0 treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zinc-plated ball-cage slides, which very soon have the zinc worn away at the raceway contact points, with the result of much increased play/shaky movements being evident relatively quickly. Upon request, customized versions with a longer extension or both customized length and stroke can be supplied. Load Co rad/ax refers to a single slide.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS SRE semi-telescopic slides are hardened rails, - patented T RACE NOX 1.0 treatment for high depth nitride hardened with black oxidation, assuring long lifetime without wear and a good corrosion resistance. SRE Series offer 75% extension, while SR 50%. High-Tech applications: The SRE telescopics are used in many High-Tech applications, where the SR slides are used in double-pairs for high speed 140-160% extensions both sides, like warehouse pick & place systems, requiring smooth and play-free running for the full product lifetime, - this is not possible with traditional zinc-plated slides. Cost-Effective: For telescopic applications that requires only 3/4 extension SRE slides are very economical solutions for high load extensions. They are a very cost-effective product when Double-Side extension, used to replace more expensive standard telescopic with only one side extension. High Load capacity: As SRE slides are only composed of 2 profiles, without any intermediate element, they assure very high load capacity and practically zero flexion. Patented T RACE-NOX 1.0 treatment guarantees a constant preload setting during the complete lifetime, unlike traditional zinc-plated ball-cage slides, which very soon have the zinc removed at the raceway contact points, with the resulting situation being quite soon that much increased play/shaky movements is clearly visible. Upon request, customized versions with a longer extension or both customized length and stroke can be manufactured. Load capacity based on single slide. Load Co rad/ax refers to a single slide.

SIZING OF TELESCOPIC APPLICATIONS The main factors for sizing the slides for a telescopic movement: - The weight/forces of mobile part and their position compared to slides. - Presence of dynamic forces / eventual abuse - max. acceptable flexion - max. acceptable extraction/closing force of mobile part - Ambients, frequency, speed - Expected lifetime
DIMENSIONING
All load capacities Co rad, are indicated per single slide and with the load perfectly centered. I.e an homogeneous load placed between 2 slides. Hereby the load P is acting as a radial point load, at half the extension and in the middle between the 2 slides. The load capacity for a pair is then: P = 2 • Co rad When sizing a telescopic application, it must be carefully evaluated if the load is centered. Also it must be considered if any external dynamic forces, or possible abuse could further increase the load forces acting on the slides.
48
Co rad
In case the load isn’t centered. i.e. load center Pe1 more towards one of the slides, and/or more towards the tip of the load, the center weighted load must be calculated for the must slides = Pe1 , to be inserted in formula on next page. Pe1 =

Where : P = Weight/load of mobile part a, b = distances from centered load to left/right slide fp = load position coefficient, based on relation of “c” distance between actual load P and load Co rad position, compared stroke H. The coefficient fp is obtained from below diagram. as the ratio between “c/H” . When only 1 slide the formula is Pe = P • fp

VERIFICATION OF LOAD CAPACITY To assure a correct selection of the slides according to the slide’s load capacity, it is assumed the known different forces acting on the slides, which then must be decomposed in : radial, axial or moment forces. Then again compared to load/moment capacities indicated for each single product in previous pages. For the slides with intermediate element TLS, TH , TLR, TLN and TLAX the verification is mainly down to comparing the load capacity Co Rad. to Pe as calculated on page 48, including a safety factor Z.
