• 18 Foam Balls, 18 ROGY Balls (depends on level off play)
• 36 size appropriate rackets
R E C O M M E N DAT I O N S SAFETY • The gym, courts, or area used must always be checked and cleared of extra objects.
• The equipment used should be checked and maintained.
• Instructions of staying in zones while waiting for ball to come to you and being aware of others around you. Call the ball.
• No running between courts or jumping over nets. • Follow directions and stay in your assigned area.
THINGS TO REMEMBER • This lesson can be located indoors, in a gym, or large room and outdoors on a blacktop, court, or hard surface. Multiple courts are used so that games could run simultaneously and advancement is available.
GROUP TENNIS LESSON PLANS
G E T T I N G S TA R T E D WARM UP Cardio All groups start the exercises on teacher’s command and do each one for 30 seconds. Jumping Jacks Jump sideways over a line and back. Jump forward over a line and back.
Dynamic Stretching Teacher starts each exercise across the area and back. Dynamic stretches go across from one sideline to the other and back when teacher starts the activity.

KING’S COURT
Tennis Volleyball King of the Court
• Teams of 3-6 players are positioned in zones on both sides of a court (2-4 players on a mini court). One side starts with a drop-hit serve from the baseline.
• The ball must bounce once on the serve, after that during the point the ball can be hit out of the air or off the bounce but must be returned over the net with 3 hits or less.
• Courts as small the service boxes or as

large as a regular tennis court may be used.
• Mark with chalk, rubber lines, or tape. Small nets can be used instead of lines, or a regulation net and court. (Should be according to skill level.) Court layout may vary.

Move Back One Court
King of Court Rotation • Teacher times the games announcing when the game starts and when the game ends. • 5-minute timed game before rotation occurs. • Teams agree on the Rally score. If tied one point will be played to break the tie. The winning team advances one court towards the Kings Court, while the team who lost goes back one court (away from the direction of the Kings Court).
