TERM DATES AND HOLIDAYS Summer Term 2015 Monday 13th April 2015- Thursday 16th July 2015 Autumn Term 2015 Wednesday 2nd September 2015- Friday 18th December 2015 Thursday 24th September- Staff training, school closed for children for Eid-ul-Adha Half Term: Monday 26th October 2015- Friday 30th October

Dear Parents and Carers, It is hard to believe that the end of term is nearly upon us, where has this year gone? Driving around the school area Can I please ask all parents to be extra vigilant when driving around the school area. There are lots of children arriving at and leaving the school site every day so please be aware of that when you collect your children in your cars. Can I also remind all parents to stop if there are people crossing on the Zebra Crossing on Temple Road. Holidays during term time Please remember that it is the policy of the Department for Education and Mora Primary School not to allow any holiday or extended leave during term time. If you wish to take your child/children out of school, during term time, you need to complete a form from the Main School Office. Please also remember that the children will be having a 6 week break starting on Thursday 16th July 2015 at 3:30pm so no additional time away from school should be needed. Uniform During the Summer break I have no doubts you will be refreshing your child’s uniform ready for the start of a new year. Please remember that the following uniform must be worn:

Jade Green Mora sweatshirt (school uniform shop) Plain navy blue trousers, skirts or jogging bottoms, (all suppliers of school uniform) Navy blue polo shirts (school uniform shop) Plain black hijab (hijab suppliers) Plain black shoes, trainers or sandals Blue or green summer dresses (summer onlyall suppliers of uniform) Navy or black tights or leggings Plain hair bands and clips

The Summer Fair Thank you to all of those families that attended this year’s Summer fair. I think you will all agree that the event was another success and there was lots of positive feedback from those that did come. Thank you to the FMA and Ms Johnson for all of their hard work and to all of the staff that stayed to support the school with the event. The FMA will inform everyone of how much was raised at a later date. Art Week The whole school will be taking part in an Art week during the week beginning 6th July 2015. There are lots of exciting activities planned for that week and I am sure that the children will enjoy showing off their creative side. Homework support Brent Libraries are providing homework support for children aged 8-14 years old. If you think that this would benefit your child then please refer to the list of locations, days and times below: Wembley Library- Mondays 3:30-5:30pm Willesden Green Library at the Lewinson Centre- Thursday 3:30-5;30pm Harlesden Library- Fridays 3:30-5:30pm Ealing Road Library- Saturdays 10:30am12:30pm. Year 6 Our wonderful year 6 children are coming to the end of their time at Mora. They are a great group of children that I feel very privileged to have known. They have written a special Good Bye paragraph later in this newsletter. We will miss them a great deal. Endings and new beginnings At this time of year we also start to think about saying Goodbye to some of our staff members. This year we will be saying goodbye and Good luck to; Ms Bevis, Ms ElAzizi and Mr James. I am sure that you will all join me in wishing them the very best of luck for the future. It is also an exciting time when we look ahead to the future and in September we will be welcoming back some familiar and some new faces. Ms Cummins, Mr Di Lorenzo, Mr Gustowicz and Ms Mas will all be staying with us. We will be welcoming Ms Brookes, Ms Khan and Mr Nassbaum to the Mora family. Your child will have an opportunity to meet their new teacher, with the exception of Ms Mas as she is still working abroad, on Wednesday 15th July 2015.

Ever since we stepped into Mora, our lives have changed in various ways which cannot be fully described. It has been an absolute privilege to be educated at Mora! We would not be at this point, about to head off to high school, if it wasn’t for the school community and the past and present teachers. We’ll never forget the moments when we saw Ms Robinson smile - it completely brightened up our days… Mr James would always make our stomachs moan and groan out of popcorn jealousy (‘Thanks’)! Putting us in the mood to dance, Mrs El-Machachi would always dance to Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. Finally, Miss White comes to mind; her creativity and positivity (and spray bottle) were always handy! We’ve saved the best till last - Ms Denton, the teacher that’s known us for 6 years; you have always been there behind us, cheering us on. Thank you to all of the marvellous teachers, who were there throughout our time at Mora! The teachers’ support and encouragement has meant the world to us! We will whole-heartedly miss Mora as we continue on our journey of education. Thank you all! By Mohib and Aliyah Dates for your Diary Date 1.07.15

Sports news Over the past six weeks our children have taken part in so many sporting activities and have represented our school with self belief and passion; we have the trophies to prove this! A great achievement was that of our Quadkids Athletics team as they came third in the Borough Championships. The children were full of pride as they showed off their medals to the rest of the school! Our Year 3 and 4 Tag Rugby team made it through to the Quarter Finals of the Saracens RFC Festival, as did our Year 6 football team at the QPR FC leavers Tournament. We also took our Year 1+2 football team to a festival held by QPR FC. The children were absolutely brilliant ambassadors for our school and played 6 matches of which they won 2, drew 2 and lost 2. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge well done to all the children that have taken part in all of the competitions, as this shows all the children in the school that there are lots of opportunities to take part in all sports activities at our school. Mr Joshi- P.E Leader

Mora has the golden touch! Mora has recently been awarded two GOLD awards. We have just been awarded a GOLD award in the Sainsbury’s School Games! This is in recognition of our participation in sports events both in school and the wider community. Thank you to Mr Joshi for his hard work in securing this award. We have also been awarded a GOLD STARS TFL award for our School Travel Plan. Thank you to Ms Farmer and Ms Tegan-Cole for their hard work in securing this award. None of these awards would have been possible without the support of children and you as parents so thank you all very much.
