The 2009 Christopher Newport University football season promises to be one of the best ever! The Captains embark on their ninth season of action, and host five challenging games at POMOCO Stadium. CNU has won six USA South Conference Championships over the first eight seasons, and the Captains are coming off an amazing 9-2 record last year. CNU swept its conference schedule by going 7-0 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in eight years of action. Head Coach Matt Kelchner’s squad has now posted an overall record of 58-26 since the inception of the program for a winning percentage of 69 percent. Season tickets to CNU football guarantee you’ll have the best seats in the house for conference and non-conference battles in 2009. The action starts on September 19th with a Family Weekend battle with Salisbury. The Captains will also host Wilkes in nonconference action on September 26th, and then continue with conference games against Shenandoah, North Carolina Wesleyan, and Maryville. Be at POMOCO Stadium for all the action in the fall of 2009 as the Christopher Newport football squad looks to continue its dominance.
