PE and Sports Partnership Grant The Bridge School was allocated a grant of £8375 to support Primary P.E for the academic year of 2014-2015 DFE Outlined Purpose of Funding: Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and Sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this. Possible uses for the funding might include: Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change4Life clubs. Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and Sport. Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and Sport. Running sport competitions, or increasing pupils’ participation in the School Games. Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and Sport, providing places for pupils on after school sports clubs and holiday clubs pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools. The Bridge School Expenditure. The Bridge continues to invest a considerable budget to support PE and sports opportunities across the school in every phase for all groups of pupils. The PE/ sports offer in the school includes access to: EYFS • outdoor learning environment planned daily • specialised PE facilities including EYFS soft play and EYFS gym. • sensory integration equipment in by the EYFS gym • swings/ roundabout including wheelchair accessible equipment • a wide range of equipment inducing bikes, balls, small equipment • body awareness and movement groups e.g. TAC PAC and parachute games • Warm swim in the hydrotherapy pool during the EYFS phase There is a teacher who is responsible for the planning of the Physical curriculum within the phase (Coordinator). The class teacher plans specifically for their class. Key Stage One • planned daily physical session which includes a range or curriculum opportunities supported by access to specialist PE facilities and space. • Physical activity mid-morning and at lunchtime • primary soft play • two gym areas ( one with sensory integration equipment) • two hall spaces • use of EYFS outside areas to support transition.

Key Stage Two • physical activity mid-morning and at lunchtime • primary soft play • two gym areas ( one with sensory integration equipment) • two hall spaces • use of range of primary outside areas including climbing area • swings/ roundabout including wheelchair accessible equipment • a wide range of equipment including bikes, balls, small equipment • body awareness, dance and movement groups • weekly swim offered in main pool on site or in warm pool (hydrotherapy pool if necessary due to pupil needs) • sports activities including golf and adapted sports equipment There is a teacher who is responsible for the planning of the Physical curriculum within the phase (Coordinator). The class teacher plans specifically for their class. Specific units are delivered to pupils grouped across classes to ensure all needs are met.

Secondary • physical activity mid-morning and at lunchtime • additional daily access to physical sessions for some pupils according to their needs. • a planned weekly Physical Education lesson which includes a range of curriculum opportunities supported by access to specialist PE facilities. Planning includes development of fundamental skills in movement and application of these to a range of sports including disability sports e.g. boccia, new age curling and floor lacrosse • two gym areas (one with sensory integration equipment) • two hall spaces • use of Secondary outside playground area which includes a ball park, climbing equipment and swings including wheelchair accessible equipment • a wide range of equipment including bikes, balls, small equipment • a weekly swim offered in main pool on site or in warm pool (hydrotherapy pool if necessary due to pupil needs) • short courses throughout the year lead by various sports coaches – these have included golf and cricket coaches • Community facilities as appropriate for older age pupils There is a teacher who is responsible for the planning of the Physical Education curriculum within the phase (Co-ordinator). The class teacher plans specifically for their class. Throughout the school, relevant advice is integrated from other professionals as relevant to individual pupils e.g. Physio, OT, VI/HI teachers. Some individuals will have specific equipment such as walking aids, standing frames, use of achiever bed etc which are incorporated into their physical programme/ offer. Others may have additional physical sessions to support their learning behaviour. The co-ordinators for each phase work closely together to ensure progression and continuity across the school. After school clubs are also offered for school aged pupils with different opportunities during the year.

Staff training has been funded through the school training budget. In addition the school employs a Sports Partnership Co-ordinator 1 day a week. The co- ordinator arranges a wide range of additional sporting opportunities and access to outside coaches etc, sports events and also delivers directly to pupils including in after school clubs.

The grant for Primary Sports Partnership this year has supported the wider budget that is committed to PE and has been specifically spent in: - HLTA cover for 1 day a week to support small group interventions of primary aged pupils in sports activities- £4,375 - Partial funding of Sports Partnership Co-ordinator of £4,000. The Co-ordinator offers coaching sessions and arranges outside coaches and accesses additional funding through bids to support PE and Sports throughout the school. The Governors receive termly report on actions and impact. The school benefits from having three teachers who are qualified PE teachers. Outcomes from Expenditure -

Small group interventions have been implemented using sensory strategies and also for pupils with profound and multiple difficulties and to enhance staffing for swimming. Outcomes for pupils are within termly assessment records.
