The Carriage House 9 Sherborne Stables, Sherborne

The Carriage House An elegant, two/three storey conversion within the original stable block of Sherborne Park. Sherborne Estate with its fine Mansion House dates back to 1752. The stable block is built around a central courtyard well stocked with mature plants and a central fountain. Entered through a tall archway, 10 dwellings form a quiet and sophisticated community. The Carriage House is entered through the original carriage doorway, now fully glazed. The accommodation has high ceilings and sash windows with an open fireplace in the sitting room, surrounded by a stone fireplace and hearth. There are solid oak doors and a wonderful oak staircase to the first floor bedroom. This is an open room with ample built-in wardrobes and cupboards and access to the attic. There is also a linen cupboard with plumbing for a washing machine. This attic room is an extremely useful room, boarded and carpeted giving further storage or could be used as a study. To the rear of the property is a small terrace overlooking the church, suitable for alfresco dining. There is plenty of communal parking for the stables’ residents and the upkeep, including the maintenance of the gardens, is covered by an annual fee.
