Class Registration Procedures First day of class registration is on Friday, September 4, 2015. Class Sign-up Special: At Open House, May 2 enroll and pay to receive a 10% discount. Must be present—no phone reservations. Not all classes are discountable. Please see the Index on page Registration information for mailing: your name, address, phone numbers, and for each class: class number, title, section, date, class fee. Include check for full amount of class plus tax or complete credit card information. (Note: You may print out the registration form from our web site and either mail or bring it in.) Kit fees are extra and must be paid to the instructor at the beginning of the class. Supply sheets will be given out as you enroll. All notions and fabrics purchased for class are discounted 10%. Please support our store by purchasing supplies for classes here. This helps keep our costs down and better serve you. CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICY. It is essential to PRE-REGISTER. We must make a commitment to our teachers one week prior to the start of each class and so refunds will only be made for cancellations ONE WEEK or more ahead of class starting date. If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, enrollees will receive a refund.

Two days to explore, draw, design & play! Spend a two day “vacation” learning the fundamentals of star design and a myriad of spectacular borders. In this class you’ll create a full sized original quilt design with a central star and surrounding borders, and begin stitching it together using paper foundation piecing. This class is suitable for all skill levels. However, the class will include an optional section on asymmetric design to challenge more advanced students. Learn the step-by-step process to make your own one-of-a-kind art quilt. $10 workbook fee that includes the asymmetry section.

Let’s sit together on the Park Bench. That is the name of the next quilt pattern in the Confident Quilter lineup. This quilt has 8 blocks in the design. We will teach a technique class for the first lesson and then one or two block designs per month for about 6 sessions and one session to put it all together after we have made all the blocks. In addition to the original design we will explore some variations and additional technique options to extend our skills and personalize our quilts. Quilt can be made without “y” seams if desired. Come join Kate and built up your arsenal of quilting techniques. Each month we will do a small project to practice a proven technique to make your quilting more successful. These classes will be offered a la carte so you only need to take the ones that explore a technique that you want to learn. At the end of the year some design ideas will be given out to incorporate the learning projects into a single quilt or you can use them however you desire. These are a great opportunity for stash busting.

Complex Piecing Skill Builder Workshop Saturdays Kate Quinn Each Session: $24 + tax 1-4pm (A) September 19 Curved Piecing 2 (B) October 10 In-Set Piecing & Puzzle Seams Ruth McDowell offers an incredible array of piecing techniques that will make anyone a better quilter. Using her process, we will make small sample blocks to practice different techniques each session: Y-Z seams, Linear elements, Curved seams, Inset seams, and Puzzle Seams. All classes will be offered A La Carte, but after the 5th development session we will be doing a culmination exercise quilt to apply all the skills previously learned. Two days to explore, draw, design & play! Spend a two day “vacation” learning the fundamentals of star design and a myriad of spectacular borders. In this class you’ll create a full sized original quilt design with a central star and surrounding borders, and begin stitching it together using paper foundation piecing. This class is suitable for all skill levels. However, the class will include an optional section on asymmetric design to challenge more advanced students. Learn the step-by-step process to make your own one-of-a-kind art quilt. $10 workbook fee that includes the asymmetry section.

Long Arm Rental Program (class 220) Make a date to finish your quilts on any one of our quilting machines. Begin with an introductory class on the use of the long arm machines. Note from Vickie Haskins: Years ago my neighbor and I took an enormous plunge and bought a Handi Quilter from Ann Silva. We were new quilters and felt a bit nervous about spending that much money. 4. Fabric Dyeing 101 Elizabeth Dawson One Session: $24 + tax + $35 kit fee Thursday, September 17 5-8pm Learn the basics of hand dyeing fabric as you dye a 12 step color wheel. You’ll go home with at least 3 yards of beautifully dyed fabric. Kit fee includes all fabric, chemicals, gloves and mask.
Let’s sit together on the Park Bench. That is the name of the next quilt pattern in the Confident Quilter lineup. This quilt has 8 blocks in the design. We will teach a technique class for the first lesson and then one or two block designs per month for about 6 sessions and one session to put it all together after we have made all the blocks. In addition to the original design we will explore some variations and additional technique options to extend our skills and personalize our quilts. Quilt can be made without “y” seams if desired. Ricky Tims is known for superlative results in all areas of his fabric works, and a “perfect” edging is no exception. Bonnie will have you create the wee tiny piping between the binding and the quilt and will demo the scalloped edge option.

Binder Basics Michele Lommasson Each Session: $24 + tax + $10 kit fee (A) Saturday, September 19 1-4pm (B) Wednesday, November 4 1-4pm Learn how to use the BERNINA Binder attachment and explore a variety of uses for this wonderful tool. There is no charge if you purchased your binder at Ann Silva’s Sewing Center; kit fee still applies.
Come join Kate and built up your arsenal of quilting techniques. Each month we will do a small project to practice a proven technique to make your quilting more successful. These classes will be offered a la carte so you only need to take the ones that explore a technique that you want to learn. At the end of the year some design ideas will be given out to incorporate the learning projects into a single quilt or you can use them however you desire. These are a great opportunity for stash busting.
7. Complex Piecing Skill Builder Workshop Saturdays Kate Quinn Each Session: $24 + tax 1-4pm (A) September 19 Curved Piecing 2 (B) October 10 In-Set Piecing & Puzzle Seams Ruth McDowell offers an incredible array of piecing techniques that will make anyone a better quilter. Using her process, we will make small sample blocks to practice different techniques each session: Y-Z seams, Linear elements, Curved seams, Inset seams, and Puzzle Seams. All classes will be offered A La Carte, but after the 5th development session we will be doing a culmination exercise quilt to apply all the skills previously learned. Learn how to piece together almost anything… Book required. Best suited for Intermediate to Advanced quilters.

EQ7 Software Mastery Kate Quinn Each Session: $24 + tax 9:30am-12:30pm (A) September 17 (B) October 15 (C) November 19 EQ7 is a quilt design software that lets you design the quilt of your dreams and gives you the planning tools to actually make the quilt. If you want to begin exploring your quilt design skills or would like to better use the EQ7 that you already have, this is a good class for you. Computer with EQ7 installed required. Class content will vary according to the skill level of the students.

Wonderful 1 Fabric Quilt Lorna Loeffler Two Sessions: $48 + tax Tuesdays, September 22 & 29 1-4pm Start with just one border or a striped fabric and you are on your way to creating a unique, one-of-a-kind quilt. Look for stripes with interest, contrast, color and a variety of scale. 9. Playground to Creativity Lorna Loeffler Each Session: $24 + tax 9:30am—12:30pm (A) September 25 Treasures in your Stash Create a Collage using fabric from your stash (B) October 23 Using Metal to Embellish foil, wire, metal sheets, mesh (C) November 20 Create a series using an object and different methods to create it. ...Be creative! Be inspired! Be bold! Be you! Play each month with a different embellishment method or process by making a small quilt (9” x 12”). By playing you can reduce your stash, can be challenged, can be inspired and can try something new! 10. Smitten Michele Lommasson One Session: $24 + tax Friday, September 25 1-4pm In this first installment, learn to make block one of this charming Lucy Carson Kingwell hexi quilt. Skills covered will include perfect point matching and the use of Marti Michell’s patchwork templates. 11. Upcycled Apron Roberta Sanders Each Session: $24 + tax (A) Wednesday, September 23, 1-4pm (B) Tuesday, November 10, 9:30am-12:30pm Create a one of a kind apron from a man’s dress shirt, new, older or treasured shirt from a loved one. Aprons are easy to make and are as decorative as you desire for the occasion. Very little waste of fabric and a pleasure to wear. These aprons are easy to wear and really protect your clothes.
13. Third Street Neighborhood Elizabeth Dawson One Session: $24 + tax Friday, October 2 9:30am-12:30pm Make a fast, easy and fun neighborhood! The designer loves house quilts, but most have too many pieces. So, she designed this great little block to satisfy her house need. Envision it in so many great fabric combinations: springy, winter, holiday, mid-century, modern, reproduction... 14. The Bionic Gear Bag Teresa Heaphy One Session: $48 + tax Friday, October 9 9:30am-4:30pm The Bionic Gear Bag is the perfect travel companion to hold sewing notions, cosmetics, or travel needs. Inside the bag is enough space to hold all your sewing essentials in 4 zippered pockets and spaces between the pockets. The fold out front acts as a tray. 15. Binder Project Michele Lommasson One Session: $40 + tax Friday, October 9 9:30am-3:30pm You have your Bernina Binder. You’ve taken Binder Basics. Now let’s use it! Make a manicure kit, a tissue pack caddy, and a small cosmetic case. NOTE: You must own the binder for this class.

Fast, fun & fabulous jacket! The jacket uses two layers of fabric, so it is lightweight for year round wear. We will use 100% yarn-dyed woven fabrics. (The color & pattern generally appears the same on both sides of the fabric. The yarns are dyed before woven into fabric.)

Take your fabric dyeing to the next level by learning to create a variety of patterns via folding, clamping, scrunching, tieing, etc! We’ll learn 12+ techniques for manipulating fabric. Prerequisite: Fabric Dyeing 101 Intermediate level
A continuation of Becky’s first QDC class, each month you will explore different quilting options for varied quilt tops. Technical and design aspects will be discussed as needed to increase skill levels. Open only to previous QDC students.
