The Glorious Gospel The good news (gospel) that God has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ, whose assignment was to save sinners, has been under attack from day one. The Apostle Paul urges Timothy to guard and fight for the Gospel. The defense begins with a clear definition of the Good News (Gospel). See I Cor. 15:1-4. All other aspects of the Christian faith MUST conform or modify the glorious gospel. (I Tim. 1:11) I. The gospel must be defended against false teachers. I Tim. 1:3 A. Produce confusion and controversy. I Tim. 1:4 B. By unqualified teachers. I Tim. 1:7 C. It is a good fight. I Tim. 1:18 II. The goal of the Glorious Gospel is to display LOVE. I Tim. 1:5 A. Love comes from a person with: 1. A pure heart. I Tim. 1:5 2. A good conscience. I Tim. 1:5; 1:19 3. A sincere faith. I Tim. 1:5 III. The gospel is glorious because it alone can save sinners. I Tim. 1:15 A. Saul of Tarsus was a BLASPHEMER. I Tim. 1:13 B. Saul of Tarsus was a church PERSECUTOR. I Tim. 1:13 C. Saul of Tarsus was a VIOLENT man. I Tim. 1:13
