Purpose • Employment rates for persons with disabilities still not commiserate with nondisabled peers • Success and/or access for students with disabilities and postsecondary programs is not commiserate with nondisabled peers • Community colleges provide open access, various programming options, comprehensive support services, flexible modes of delivery, experience with diverse populations
• Centers for Independent Living (CILs) are consumer controlled, non-profit organizations that provide services and advocacy to persons with all types of disabilities.

How • Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), partnered with Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living (LVCIL) • Develop/implemented a Person Centered Model promoting integration and socialization of students with disabilities into postsecondary programs • Prepare them and assisting them to find strategic employment
How • Students receive intensive guidance and support in choosing a program and pursuing an education credential alongside their peers, as well as assistance with securing employment at the completion of their programs. • DDC (PA Developmental Disabilities Council) SPOTLIGHT for funding $150,000

What is SEED? • Unique, comprehensive program for students with disabilities • Follow along services including soft and/or technical skills, mentoring, socialization, and independent living skills necessary for vocational success • Academic or career track • SEED: Plants the seed of success for students through college and community engagement in creating an inclusive culture, fostering growth.

Distinct Program Qualities Ultimate Goal: ◦ Through programming, students with disabilities
will acquire the skills needed to complete a postsecondary academic or job training program and secure employment in their chosen career field; achieving completion and placement rates for these students that are comparable to those of their nondisabled peers.
